They'd need permission to speak to Robins Wethers yes ? They seem to be 'warming' to him though.

Jacko, You still speaking to me ? Whats the weather conditions like up Th'olme Valley ? I've some windows to fit up at Wheat Close.

I believe they will need permission to speak to Robins yes.

In which case one might then conclude (If that is requested or he appears around the Smiths) then he's a real serious contender ..

Do we like him .. Could he do a job .. ?

Right:

Adkins - by all accounts still devastated at being sacked and not currently interested.

Di Canio - there's a definite interest in him but a feeling he could be even more erratic than Clark, who Hoyle isn't wanting to duplicate.

Coyle - Turned down Ipswich and Blackpool and apparently isn't interested in us either.

Pressley - Ruled out.

Davies - Ruled out, unless he promised to co-operate fully with the board.

Tisdale - Turned down Swansea as he wasn't ready to leave Exeter, happy down South.

Robinson - We'd have to pay off his 3 year rolling contract, non-starter.

Megson - Still seems highly unlikely.

Neville & Shearer - Crazy talk, non-starters.

Barker - Keen, apparently interviewed.

Southgate - We approached him in 2010, apparently Dean's a fan.

Robins - Not sure how interested he is but he ticks a load of boxes.

---

So if managing Huddersfield Town really is as unappealing as it seems to be we could be looking at one of the bottom 3 on that list, which completely ruins my bets and doesn't really excite me in the slightest.

I'd say you've just hedged em Cas but with an excellent informative post, you a fan of Davies ? Seems a most argumentative guy to me who alas never fails to find himself out of favour with the majority, kinda reminds me of someone

Robins looks a more likely candidate by the day - Just has to buy into that longer term vision of Deans which HEY I can live with providing Mr Hoyle comes out and does much more P R work with us fans on his time scales for realising more of his & our ambitions, We are all watching this space, you just appear to have a slightly more inside track, I hope its rewarding.

Btw Nice pic and write up of your Jordan and his top team in 2days Examiner, seems they pipped a club close to where Myth lives in Myth olmroyd

Coventry very Town? Town on a downer... But a Championship club. Coventry, rising after years in the doldrums, with a bigger fan base & bigger stadium.. But in League 1. I'm sorry if I were Robins I would stay at Coventry.

Are their (like so many other clubs) Ownership Issues at Coventry - Are their financials soundly secured - ?

These are all matters that would quite rightly bear heavy on any Managers mind when considering his Long Term future -

If the Prospective Managers totally confident of his ability to CONS ISTENTLY Perform - then hey Town ARE a pretty attractive Club .

When Leak Lark was sacked Grayson was my first choice from the usual suspects, only because of his record of getting teams promoted. Robins was my second choice, and I stated that fact on this board.

I would be very surprised if Dean Hoyle is prepared to pay compensation for Robins, which will surely be demanded by the powers that be at Coventry City… but then, as Hamlet said, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” Or, if you go along with Johnny Nash, “There are more questions than answers…”

Robins apart, if the circumstances are as Cas describes, then I reckon Town may as well stay with Lillis. There was certainly some improvement against Leicester and Crystal Palace, although there are still major improvements to be made. Some encouragement is to be had when Lillis states re the Derby game, “We are disappointed with our defending for the third goal and that won’t happen again, we will nip that in the bud.”

Unless Town appoint Sooty and his magic wand there is unlikely to be a quick fix for any newcomer.

I too would be surprised if Robins chose to leave Coventry, but then money talks… although mine is not on speaking terms with me!

Forest are now looking for a new manager, I reckon we've just become even less attractive...

posted on 5/2/13

Mcleish now left Forest! More manager competition! Who would want that job though!

posted on 5/2/13

Why hasn't my choice been approached...Uwe Rosler?

Now Forest are looking for a manager I think we can wave goodbye to the pipe dream of Nigel Adkins.

It's looking more like LILLIS by the minute.
What a farce,
Lets stick with him,
Roll the sleeves up & ....
Just get on with it.

The official word is that we are still receiving applications for the job but the process is going well

Still receiving applications !....
This hadn't been thought through eh Wakey,
We fire Grayson and don't have a replacement lined up or anyone in mind ?

Lillis is a 'town man',
That'll do for me.
It's getting silly now.

circus...we were sh-te from half way through november..it got worse..
even businessmen running football clubs should be thinking ahead..
sorry, but the eye has certainly been taken off the ball at htfc..
far too much commercial and charitable time spent avoiding the big decisions..
we need to be in this division, first and last, everything else follows on..you can get ordinary people to cycle stupid distances for charity..you can sell commercial advertising etc etc, some people cant get 11 people to kick a piece of plastic and run about, for whatever reason and that was obvious for a long time before the sacking..
This should have been well sorted by now.. anymore p-ssing about and the new man wont have anytime in the loan market, or is that the point????

posted on 5/2/13

Darn, Lillis is ok up to a point but it was clear to see on Saturday that once we went behind he didn't really have a scooby doo on how to change it.

Dean had to get rid of Grayson, no doubt about it. But he should have had a man in mind at the time of the sacking, ok if this was Adkins and if as reported he's turned us down then let's come out and say so.
The Examiner states they believe we are only talking to out of work managers so that would rule out my choice Uwe Rosler along with the like of Di Canio and Robins and leaves us with the likes of Adkins,Coyle,Brown,Megson and the like and to be honest only Adkins stands out.

charisma????

difficult to quantify..

not difficult to spot people who have none...

lee clark/simon grayson....

not sure sir alex has much so maybe thats not what we should be looking for..

ipswich have pulled themselves together, maybe mcarthy shouting and telling it like it is works??? maybe they signed some players that has helped mick out a bit???

you usually get some reaction from the squad to a change, it usually lasts longer than 2 games though.. maybe lillis or anyone else might need some leverage with the lazy f-ckwits with some new players coming in on loan.. lets hope we havent now got a squad with too many who honestly couldnt give a rats ars-....
once grayson left beckford was never going to "pull up any trees" and a couple of others looked vagueley disinterested on saturday...
The ones that looked "very interested" are unfortunately the ones who are in the wrong league.....and mistake followed mistake followed by lack of awareness/speed etc etc etc..
they do try hard, its just a step too far for them..

Forest have got dodgy owners, have got rid of 2 managers this season already, why would Adkins want to work for another dodgy owner?

posted on 5/2/13

Answer- they can pay him a lot more than us.

Football is one of the few professions that you get the sack from and get to negotiate a nice little pay off

managers and players who are sh-t at a particular club have far too much protection in their contracts..
"success" or "progress" are eminently "debatable" issues...
civil law should be applied, for managers , on the basis of probabilities you were taking the team nowhere..
for players, on the basis of the opinions of the majority of the 13 thousand regular paying clients, you were sh-te... you are sacked...

Come on be honest if you was Adkins and you had a choice of town at the bottem with know money to spend an owner who's only goal is to finish 4 th bottem , or Forrest ? Bigger club bigger fan base a chairman who's willing to spend spend and who's ambition is to play in the premier ? It should not take you long to answer .

I did suggest a Chairman, Manager alliance to confront the Agent & contract scenario .....That situation just can't continue.

I think it's fair to say we all pretty much agree that this is becoming a wee bit embarrassing & that it hasn't been very well planned in the slightest.

Re the 3 nil thumping, Fair enough Wakey, but.
Would we have faired any better with Larry in charge. I think not.

A visit by top of the league on Saturday, A chance to see if the team have learned anything, & If after the 1st defeat for Lillis, he has anything to offer in the way of a determined response.

As is, We have nothing to lose at the moment anyway.
(Well, Not the way things are shaping up.)

“… we were sh-te from half way through november..it got worse..”

There were signs of shirtiness even earlier. Away at Birmingham, Town scored a good goal on 25 minutes, and that was about it. In the second half they had one effort on goal (a tame header), and gave a very good impression of a team that hadn’t the faintest idea how to counter-attack.

I said after the game at Barnsley, (another good goal followed by not much else) that had Barnsley been more direct they would have beaten Town. And me without even a Blue Peter badge!

“Mcleish now left Forest! More manager competition! Who would want that job though!”

More importantly, who would want McLeish. Not me, that’s for sure!
