Gazza back off the wagon....

To be honest Gazza needs to be sectioned for his own good now, and even then it will probably nto make that much difference. His friends have deserted him, and he is now a chronic alcoholic, going down the same route as George Best. Frankly while it is very sad, I doubt he will be able to ever give up drinking. Many, many other humans have the same condition, but are never given any publicity, but just sink further and further down, until the inevitable happens.

What will be will be with Gazza I am afraid to say.

Read a funny story about Gazza the other day.

When he was at Spurs and the lads were at the morning training session someone miskicked the ball and it went over the fence. Gazza shouted that he'll fetch the ball and jumped over the fence to retrieve it. He only returned the next morning, jumped back over the fence with the ball in hand and with a big grin said
" I've found it"

Alcoholicism is in certain people's genetic make up and a trigger will then consign a person to misery he needs to get to AA get some inner strength and fight this condition with the strength & support of everybody.

Nobody wants to be an alcoholic and I want to see Gazza well as he is a lovable character with a big heart.

Makes me very sad to see what's happened to him, he was one of my heroes growing up.

Even when he was 'on the wagon' I cringed every time I saw him, he's just destroyed himself. And I don't know if there's any way back.

But he's done it to himself, and has had all the help in the world available to him, and has chosen to be this way. Addiction is a terrible thing, particularly when someone isn't truly committed to recovery. And I don't Gazza ever has been.

i still blame el tel a bit tbh. he should never have let im go out for that game against forest in the frame of mind he did. if he'd gone to united you can guarantee that fergie would have got him away from the bad influences that letched off him as well.

And how would he have changed the "frame of mind" of a player was absolutely ecstatic at playing in an FA Cup final ??

he didnt run on to the pitch like someone who was "ecstatic", he ran on to the pitch like a fakin nutcase. he looked like he had been banging his head on the dressing room walls he was so worked up - thus the 'tackle'.

I did not ask WHAT Gazza LOOKED LIKE.
I asked HOW El Tel would have changed the "frame of mind" .

"errrrr. by saying "calm down paul" ?"

Right, and that was all that was required.

He was amped as he was for the SF.
One game he was lucky to get thru without incident. The other he was not.

NOTHING would have calmed him down IMHO, bar scoring a goal.

====================

1. I dont believe that for a minute. Any man manager worth his salt can change the frame of mind of a member of his team to calm him down.

2. No matter how good he was, if he didnt calm down he shouldnt have played. simple as that. He was almost guaranteed to get a red card (which he should have got for that tackle), and it doesnt matter how good he is if he's been sent off.

I'd like to know the manager who would make that call on the player who single-handedly dragged your team to the final.

Paul, if you don't calm down, I'll take all your red smarties out the tube.
