Sturridge is a far better player. Welbeck will be playing for Wigan soon imo.
Should have made it,
Sturridge v Welbeck v Ox v Sterling
Sturridge
....... but only because Wellbeck is a waste of space
Welbeck rarely gets to play upfront for us. In his last 5 Eng apps though he's scored in 4 of them.
Sturridge------Rooney----------Welbeck
That front 3 could be a handful for any team.
Sturridge is better in my opinion
Plus Welbeck's Fresh Prince of Bel Air haircut is awful.
Wellbecks link-up play is much better than Sturridge's but if you heard all of us United fans on yesterday's match-thread we were having some banter at Wellbeck's expense at some poor finishing. We are aware, he's not the most clinical of strikers.
As a United fan, I'd prefer Wellbeck simply because we're not exactly in need of a striker, since we have 3 clinical ones.
Have always rated Sturridge and will develop rapidly at Liverpool as he'll be playing games all the time.
Welbeck hasn't really lived up to last year. Spent a lot of time out wide or on the bench. Feel he'd be a great player for anyone out of the top 5/6 clubs. Just hope he comes good.
No World Cups for England then
Why are you comparing liverpool's 2nd choice with UTDs 4th?
Strange gooners, always go compare.
Welbeck has everything to his game apart from finishing although he does look clumsy at times, plus he is two years younger than Sturridge but at this moment in time id go for Sturridge as the better Striker.
Sturridge, it pains me to say it as I can't stand the man but he is better. I am not sure Welbeck has a future at OT. He is behind RvP and Hernandez so his chances up front are seriously limited and he has proved this season he is no winger.
Welbeck is the more intelligent player, better link up play, stronger, better in the air, can hold up the play, better off ball movement and better workrate.
Both horrible finishers but Sturridge can have that I guess.
Very different players. Both good on the ball and have great movement. Sturridge is technically the better in terms of dribbling but Welbeck is the better athlete that's also blessed with a great first touch and bits of ingenuity, albeit he can look a tad clumsy.
Hard to compare at the moment because Danny's on the wing all the time and not up top, which is his best position.
Fairly evenly matched, but I think Welbeck will have the superior career as he has the raw tools to be a brilliant forward once his finishing improves, which it will. Sturridge is impressing me, though.
Good prospects.
Welbeck has a better footballing brain, by absolute miles. Sturridge is a better dribbler and finisher. I don't think there's a lot in it.
Ah, Welbeck is the better passer too.
Sturridge doesnt even know what that means.
Last season I would have said Welbeck, this season I say Sturridge. Who will become the better player? Who knows? Both players can be so hit or miss.
Sturridge is certainly better in front of goal, but will he keep it up and will Welbeck become more clinical? Answer me in 3 years time.
Should have made it,
Sturridge v Welbeck v Ox v Sterling
-------------------------------
When both on their game Ox is different class to Sterling! I say this as an unbiased England fan
Sturridge easily. I feel as we have dragged him down, if he had the same development opportunity like Welbeck did under Fergie, we would not be having this discussion, as Sturridge would be miles ahead.
Why are you comparing liverpool's 2nd choice with UTDs 4th?
Strange gooners, always go compare.
--------------------------------
Their pecking order at their clubs is irrelavant due to the current distance between the clubs.
Both are at similar stages of their careers and are around the same level so it's a fair comparison!
Sturridge isnt a good finisher. Do people see how many chances he misses? Scoring 1 goal but missing 5 clear cut chances doesnt mean he is a good finisher.
He's better than Welbeck at that but thats only because Welbeck is an embarrassment in that aspect.
These damn foreigners have ruined our game with their diving.
