Eorl Crabtree bumped into Beckford at the JSS the other week,,, beckford says, hi Eorl how's it going...Eorl tells him, well I got 3 cracked ribs, 2 broken fingers and 5 teeth missing but I'm playing on Sunday, how about you....Beckford tells him, well I've broken a nail so probably won't play again this season...

It's a good job Beckford doesn't work in Industry, otherwise he'd be taking time off work with a "broken flask"

i can safely say i have never had a pie at a football ground..
i have had a burger at a few..
i have never been called a "fat c-nt" in my life...
been called other stuff but it never included the word "fat"....
never really sure why "real men" always raises its ugly head when rugby is mentioned.. suppose its always measured against the nampy pamby professional footballers we have now.. thats an unfair comparisson, be fairer if you looked at male ballet dancers and camp hairdressers who would probably kick the sh-t out of most footballers..

Butt now favourite with Paddy Power at 15/8, followed by Graeme Jones 10/3, Mark Robins 4/1 & Alan Shearer 5/1.

For me, I don't care who gets the job because I've come to the conclusion that all managers are a waste of space and rely 90% on luck, or a sh-t load of money to have any success.

So, I agree 100% with the criteria Hoyle is laying down, which the successful applicant will have to meet.

38,

Football = sport played by Willy Wufters who couldn't handle the physical demands of Rugby League?

Alex ferguson has had a lot if luck then .

No, just a sh-t load of money - which allows him to nick all the best players, such as his latest aquisition, Robin van Persie.

Fed up of this Football v Rugby comparison.
There is no comparison.
One is very good value for money,
The 'other' isn't.

Untill folk admit they are manipulated (by the media)
nothing will change.

Don't agree !
read on.... (Tez !! read on )

USA,
the media 'control' what is 'football'...from being young..it's Grid Iron

South Africa.
When it was white controlled, Rugby Union was all the go.
Now it is Black....Soccer.

Australia,
Victoria, South Oz, the West & Tas...Aussie Rules....er, rules. No mistake, biased media driven..without question.
NSW & Queensland..RL.
But over the last 20 years massive inroads made by 'Rules' ! ...media controlled.
(RL has taken a real battering in that time.)

NZ.
UNION..end of.

INDIA,
Cricket.....

get the drift.

Canada,
now there's a 'rough' sport if we want to talk 'man' stuff.
Hockey.
I'd like to see BeckVaun have a go at that ,

Have you ever seen the newspaper headline… ‘Psychic Wins Lottery… Again’?

The future is not what it used to be, anyway.

~ ~ ~ Uncle Delu .. I bet Tatiana Could'nt have put it better herself .. ~ ~ ~ Was she ever prone to bouts of predictions

posted on 9/2/13

Tatiana doesn’t do predictions. However she does do prone... I am very pleased to say.

And… when she trips the horizontal fantastic, radiant in the dawn of her budding womanhood, bearing the promise of hidden delight, anointed with all the fine perfumes of the Arabias… not to mention a touch of Wintergreen, I’ll tell you… it don't half make the corners curl on my mustard plaster!

Ah Uncle D you paint a lovely picture with those words .. Tatiana sounds Immense to me and reminds me of those heady days that Mirfielder will remember so well on :--

The Love Boat ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icAwcByaNtY
Pray tell Sir ~ Were you Captain Gavin Mcleod on that fine vessel ?

Back to Football .. Having just watched & listened to that marvellous interview with Sir Alex~ I URGE Dean to do the same SEVERAL TIMES OVER ~ Particularly when asked about players becoming managers ..

Players one day Managers the next he retorts~ How Does That Work?

He goes on to add .. Players need Preparation For Management !!!

Is Butt really ready to be thrown in at the deep end .. ? .. Is it even fair on him to do so ~ I would say Think Long & Hard Dean ..

38YEARS

Yesterday I witnessed an association football match, Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City, played by blokes who can’t play association football.

Today, weather permitting I am going to see a rugby league game, Huddersfield Giants v London Broncos, and I expect there will be more skill, commitment, application, and entertainment in each five minutes, than the whole 90+ minutes of Saturday’s borefest.

In 1972 I stopped watching Town on a regular basis, declaring that football was “…dead, and it only wanted burying.” I have started attending matches again because my grandson is keen. Yesterday was like a wake, and I was looking at the corpse.

Category A game! More like ‘Down Among the Z Men’!

I genuinelly enjoyed yesterdays game Uncle D .. As seemingly did the majority of fans around me who gave a Standing Ovation at the end
Mi sometimes thinks thou asks for a tad too much .. what say you ..

How do you think your Grandson sees it .. ? I hope you try your best to put on a positive spin and refrain from teaching him how to be a moaner .. ..

I did spot your use of the word "Expect" there will be more skill etc etc rather than using "Predict" ~ which does provide for a little more license eh .. ..

Brûlée Wee

If you enjoyed yesterday’s game, all I can say is that you are easily pleased.

Around where I sit, the mood was different to that in your location. One guy who is a season ticket holder, has been a supporter since Moby Richard was a sardine, and makes a round trip of some 80 miles to watch home games was completely underwhelmed, and is seriously thinking of going to watch a lower division team located much nearer to his abode. Another guy who sometimes gets very agitated about refereeing decisions that go against the home team, was very critical of Town's inability to do the simple things. His daughter, wearing her HTFC gloves, was so enthralled by the game that she spent most of the time on her mobile phone. A 30 something season ticket holder who coaches under-tens teams was nonplussed by the way Town make a simple game look difficult. He is generally very critical of the standard of shooting. A teenager who I haven’t seen before gave an excellent impression of an inanimate object, huddled up inside his hoody. A middle-aged season ticket holder never uttered a syllable, but then he is like that every game. As for my grandson and the three mates who came along yesterday… they were seriously bored, and were generally more interested in things taking place off the pitch.

When I got to the bus stop, three regulars… father, son, and girlfriend… from my part of the world... arrived. The father’s first words to me were… “Well, I suppose it’s a point!" The son was less than impressed, but then he is a Rugby League fan (Bradford Bulls actually) The girl hardly ever speaks about anything. There was a guy at the bus stop, who I have never seen before, who thought Town played well. I told him that I didn’t think one effort on goal over 90+ minutes equated to playing well. I see that the BBC don’t even acknowledge that effort.

Of course, that’s only a sample, but I am telling it like it is.

I repeat… again… one more time… in my opinion, any team that goes onto a football pitch should do so with the intention of scoring more goals than the opposition, if they don’t, then they shouldn’t bother getting changed into their kit. If you see that in Town’s play, it’s a mirage.

I have been harping on about the poor standard at least since the F.A. Cup game at Port Vale in November 2009. It hasn’t changed one iota since then. It might even have got worse.

I teach my grandson how to play the game properly, again, at the risk of repeating myself for the umpteenth time, it’s the Bill Shankly way. He knows this, much better than a lot of so-called professional footballers who have supposedly been coached by professional coaches for 12 years or more.

Thank you for sharing your and your friends feelings with me Uncle D and though as per my earlier posting on some of them I def disagree they are nonetheless Much Appreciated .. .. Anyway Look try & BE Thankful for Small Mercies as Mark Lillis obviously shares your/mine enthusiasm for All Things Shankly .. As I've already pointed out on my latest thread offering, he did look yesterday, dressed as he was and being unafraid to show his passion, the spit n image of probably his own hero too .. Bill Shankly .. Never knighted neither ..
