Müller has his place now, Fab. Robben played yesterday for 90 min but only they wanted to give Müller a rest. The same goes for Mandukic. He will be preferred to Gomez.

It was long ago actually. Almost two years ago when neither of them were starters and there wasn't much between then. One of them has progressed immensely and the other hasn't.

You're kind of proving yourself wrong here. Obviously his stats will improve with a more advanced role. Doesn't mean he was any less effective in the deeper role he occupied previously.

Just look at Wilshere, he has pretty awful scoring and assist stats, yet no one would doubt his talent.

How is he the same player? He plays in a more advanced role and plays better because of it? It would be like me saying Bale is a world class left back because he plays well as a winger. Same person but different player.

Wilshere is a perfect example of somebody who has improved massively since being given a more advanced role in the team.
