Away from the pitch, I've never read or heard of a bad word said about him. Those that see him as this abhorrent bloke are usually bitter, deluded and take the sport a bit too seriously.
By all accounts, he's one of the most genuine, welcoming and supportive people in the game. If people don't like the ruthless way in which he does his job then that's their prerogative, but, like most guys in sport, it isn't the same guy that goes back home after the match.
