Makes no sense selling Giroud. As then we will need 2 strikers. Rather have a top class striker and one semi established in the league. i.e Giroud

Its off course abt accepting Theo to be starting striker. Then you have Welbeck and Wenger could buy another striker on the younger side who we would develop to bridge to Akpom.
You can't keep players if they are not happy to accept a role. And why would any striker of the ability of Giroud, who has been Arsenal's no.1 suddenly accept being no.2 at 28?

And why would a starting striker like Giroud want to sit on the bench for the few years he has remaining in his career?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because he is a useful striker and offers an alternative tactic?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whats that got to do with what Giroud wants?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You need to look at facts. Obviously Giroud signed a new contract and Wenger doesnt want him to leave. Otherwise he wouldnt give him a contract. From all signs I get from the player he likes to stay at Arsenal as well.
So dont mix up your wishes with the reality.

When replying to a comment try to do it in some context.
The question was why would Giroud, a starting striker for a champions league club, want to sit on the bench at age 28! When it was reported that Giroud a signed a contract, a fact never confirmed, he did as the STARTING striker. Have you asked Giroud if he wants to be a backup?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
where else would Giroud go? it's not as if he's an Auguero or RVP player.
If he doesn't want to stay back up, he should leave then, simples
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And thats why I made the point that I am not anti-Giroud as gt tries to paint me. That comes from paranoia.
I think Giroud is plenty good enough to be a very good striker in league not so reliant on power, pace and movement. I have said in the past, and I stick to it that he could easily succeed in Germany or France, even at a club like PSG. He just doesn't suit Arsenal's system and I don't think he ever will as much as Wenger tries to gerrymander him into it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you are anti Giroud,
but in anycase, Giroud isn't that good to go to another top club and get more playing time than he does with use, hence why I don't think he would leave for that reason.
OK, in the past we played a different system meaning that they played more but we use to have Henry, wiltord, Kanu and Dennis as our striker force, we are so weak now on the strike force, that's why I prefer Giroud to stay
we play over 50 games a season and will get plenty of playing time.

Henry, wiltord, Kanu and Dennis
----------------------
Wiltord was a starting player on the wing. Kanu was never good enough to start and accepted a backup role after his heart operation and was brought into the club knowing that. Dennis started every game he could except for when he didn't fly.
No player has been demoted that Giroud would be.

That is not the question. He has to compete with Welbeck at the moment and now with Theo. Think he already knows that. And he doesnt know what are Wenger's plan. So its not about what he wants. Its about to compete and fight for a position in the first team.
I think Giroud becomes much more dangerous when competition for his place is there. His dip in form at the end of the season coincided with Welbeck's injury - I don't think it's much of a coincidence.
A bit of rivalry between our strikers is good - If any of them have a problem with that then the can GEEET OOOOOUUUT
Giroud always transforms into Drogba during transfer windows.

Exactly HK.
Giroud is not worried about his role at Arsenal. He survived Welbeck so far and he will survive Theo as well should he play in his position.
What J99 dont get and not appreciating is obviously that OG is able to bring a different approach to the game. He adapted his strengths to the Arsenal style already. You dont realise it because you dont like his style.
I am not saying he should play and start every single game. But nice to have an option and I mean a real different option in him.
I'd lose my shít if Utd go on another transfer binge then go out of the CL qualifiers

playing Ramsey out wide didn't help either, I think that was the main reason imho
Competition about places is what will make us compete on all fronts and keeps the players fit as well. They get a breather when needed. Think Wenger realises it now and my guess is he will bring someone in who compete with le Coq.
Monreal will sign a new contract and hopefully Gibbs who needed that serious competition improve and fight for his place.

I just want to hug Santi so much.
Santi, Özil and le Coq were majestic against Villa.
The whole team was excellent but these three guys stood up.

Gibbs seems like he has the right attitude to up his game due to Monreal's form.
Ox, Jack and other players will need to do the same.
Unless of course injuries happen again.
Gibbs needs to lay off his injuries and stay fit firstly.
Then he needs to improve offensively and having an end product when going forward. Defensively he makes too many positioning mistakes. He can be easily outplaced by strikers.
I have hopes though that he can improve. He has talent but need to put it in on a consistent basis.
