But we are not a big club. Cash rich maybe, but definitely not the mentality of a big club. Lex is spot on, post-Invincible we could have been. But we're pretty much back to square one.
Wenger and the board put all their chips on FFP and that turned out a complete waste of time.
But i have hope. We've got a reasonable history that we can exploit and attract top players. We've got the highest gate receipts in Europe so wages shouldn't be an issue. The Kroenke's are sorting out the core footballing setup as well as the commercial side.
We just need to bin that useless french caant and get in a top manager.

So you genuinely believe that we, The Arsenal, are a bigger club than both Liverpool and Juventus?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are at present. However if Liverpool continue to finish ahead of us and expand Anfield as they are doing 5 years down the line that role we will be a lot behind.
How do you think Liverpool built that huge fanbase they have? What do you think happens to that fanbase in a generation if they underachieve?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Through success on the pitch, of course.
I genuinely think that the Arsenal board's "we're still a big club" attitude is overstated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lex. Suarez was at one time willing to move to us from Liverpool. By far their best player in two decades! If we were smaller a few years ago would that have been possible.
Of course now that Klopp is outperforming us on the pitch. Liverpool have generated a lot of interest and that has allowed them to rebuild the kop and fill it with corporate guests and new season ticket holders. Once again the support they built by dominating in the 70s and 80s is getting interested again. So we have lost our market position which we had back to Liverpool. This will start being reflected on their bottom line soon.

We COULD have become a bigger club, circa the Invincibles era, but Wenger couldn't get a tune out of them in Europe, so we instead became a bit of an enigma.
---------------------------------
And why was that? Because we were succeeding on the pitch. The result of that was generating a lot of income. That income and support allowed the board to build the emirates which of course again increased our income and so on. A virtuous circle. Thats what a top club does!
However now that we are out of the top 4. Not challenging for the title and as a result looking a mile away from qualifying for the Champions League. we are not going to be able to attract the top players and that means our season ticket holders are going to reduce (just at the same time as Spurs are building a new stadium that they have to fill). Whats going to happen? A negative spiral that is going to see those revenues and brand value drop! So obviously our reputation as a big club is suffering.
We need eithe Nagelsmann or Hasenhuettl.

May have to go through 2 or 3 managers until we find a longer term solution. Its why I prefer someone like Allegri cause he will at least sort out the coaching setup. After that it would be easier to hire a younger coach.
Nagelsmann is only 30 btw. And he's been headhunted by some top clubs. His stock is rising.
Nagelsmann one was weird because it seemed like that he was definitely going to Bayern at the end of this season until they pulled out and went for Kovac.
If you want Nagelsmann; Tedesco should also be in your desired list.
Tedesco is a great call btw. I'd also add Di Franceseco but we've got no chance with him.
Some real top young managers out there. Puts to bad any goober noncers who still think there's no wenger replacements out there.
Yeah; Jardim, Fonesca, Montella, even Marco Silva.
All long-term managers who will come in and implement projects and systems suited to the current game.
Edin mate, you're coming to the game on sunday, right? Fancy helping a desperate goober by finally ending wengys life?
Golf course calls this Sunday. SORRYMATE
