Seebs, how was Mustafi today?

How many years ago did Wenger try and play Ramsey as 10, J99?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And the point is he spent £42m on Ozil when £42m was a large amount of money because he realized that Ramsey can't play there. He doesn't play there for Wales either. I know what you are getting at. Ramsey is 27. Think he is knows what type of player he is by now.
I always called Ramsey the Welsh Gerrard. And we have the same problem with him that Liverpool had with Gerrard.
Xhaka is AWFUL. He's one of those players who desperately want to succeed because he looks like a decent down to earth Muslad. But he's so utterly sheite at football it literally makes it painful watching him plod around the football field.
Serbs should have done us a favour and ended his family tree.

Uncalled for.
Will watch the game now. Stream service DAZN provide the game again.
Trouble i have with Emery is he'll spend the best part of the season trying to fix the utter shiet show Wenger created before realising that core players like Xhaka, Elneny, Iwobi, Mustafi and Monreal just aren't good enough for the club. No matter what system or formation you setup for them.

Well no, footballers can adapt and develop into different players throughout their career. I bet 7 years ago you would never have predicted that Pjanic would adapt into a top class deep lying playmaker.
While I agree that Ramsey’s best position is in a midfield 3 or in a diamond emulating the Lamps role - it doesn’t mean that he may not make a competent attacking midfielder. Especially considering how he has improved as a player over the past decade.
He's made ok progress but i'd really want another CB and a CM to go to this season and try for top 4. Next season would be the next stage of development.
Lichtstiener & Sokratis are ok but short term bodge jobs. We need more long term planning.

Think Emery is going to spend pre-season trying to work out if one holding player is enough with a back 4. Liga sort of compares with the speed of counter attacks with the prem. And there he played two sitting. We used to do that with Petit/Vieira and Gilberto/Vieira.

Probably why he still holds a firm interest in Nzonzi.
Nzonzi would end Ramsey in the starting 11

Expecting 6th. Hoping for 4th/Europa cup.
Not getting it though. It going to take 3 windows to shovel the sheit Wenger created out and build a new mentality into these bottlers.
Personally i doubt Emery can do it. Most of these players have been infected by the Wenger disease for too long. These all need shipping out, with only the mentally strong, like Ramsey, staying.

His goal and assist tally would suggest something else. You just can't say Ramsey will suddenly be able to do something he hasn't shown any evidence of in the last 7 years. Its not like he hasn't been constantly selected. In fact he was picked ahead of Oxo and Walcott in a wide position to the detriment of the team just to keep him happy. There comes a point when a player has to settle into one role and prove that he can do that to high standard week in and week out. Ramsey has tremendous stamina and he times runs into the opposing box with brilliance. His finishing can improve but thats a skill not easily found. The issue is how he vacates the midfield when he does that and as we are very adept at getting countered and conceding unnecessary goals, trying to balance that only really works in a 3 man midfield.

Not really. Pretty sure Emery knows what he wants from Ramsey long term. But if he gets any feeling that Ramsey isn't here for the long term then he's planning on, with him.
If Ramsey was in trouble Emery would have had a word, just like he did with Wilshere.
