Think Emery is going to spend pre-season trying to work out if one holding player is enough with a back 4. Liga sort of compares with the speed of counter attacks with the prem. And there he played two sitting. We used to do that with Petit/Vieira and Gilberto/Vieira.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Probably why he still holds a firm interest in Nzonzi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes. and thats a problem for Rambo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not really. Pretty sure Emery knows what he wants from Ramsey long term. But if he gets any feeling that Ramsey isn't here for the long term then he's planning on, with him.

If Ramsey was in trouble Emery would have had a word, just like he did with Wilshere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah. Ramsey is under contract. That decision is upto Raul.

What decision are you on about? If Emery doesn't think Ramsey is in his plans then he'll let Ramsey and Sanllehi know.

It's kind odd not wanting a player but still have him starting all your preseason games and also making him captain.

And also constantly talking about him being central to your plans

There is no way Emery can involved in the contract negotiation between Ramsey and the club. If you asked him would you like Ramsey, any manager would say yes because he is in demand. Its too big a decision for someone who has just come into the club. But think abt this.

If we played two sitting with Maintland-Niles/Torreira or Nzonzi and one of those two, it frees up what we do further ahead.

4-2-3-1. Front 4 of Auba, Ozil, Lacazette and Mkhi.

Otherwise how do you balance the front 4? Maybe you ask Ramsey to reinvent himself as Vieira?

J99, over the last five years his goal and assist totals have been:
15
5 (barely played this season)
9
12
18
Little of this has been from a number 10 position.

Compared to Silva:
20
11
13
19
16

& Ozil:
12
17
25
9
14

Considering the fact that he hasn't played as a number 10 yet is putting up numbers not far off #10s it is reasonable to suggest that he can compare statistically.

While I do agree you play him in a midfield three, it doesn't suggest that he wouldn't be a competent #10.

They do a lot of tests on spatial awareness and passing competence for that position and frankly its taken 7 years for us to get rid of the hollywood out of Ramsey. So essentially you have to picture the play in an instant, make the correct decision and then weight that pass to perfection to almost lead the attacker to what you are thinking. Very few players have that. Silva, Cesc, Ozil, etc all do and Ramsey doesn't. As I suggested Ramsey has great stamina and his ability to time runs without being marked are his forte. He likes to be on the end of things rather than sitting deeper and dictating play.

Its actually sometimes easier for a striker to drop deeper and reinvent himself in that role. Dwight Yorke did it, Teddy Sheringham did and of course for us the greatest of them all, Bergkamp did to perfection because as strikers they knew where the attacker was going to make the run. So if they had the passing ability with experience and knowledge acquired as a striker was perfect training for that. Much harder for a box to box runner to do that in my opinion.

Not sure if it's been overdone or if it'll still draw enough of a crowd to end up in an argument

Utd vs Utd
Everyone vs Wahl
Robbing vs whoever will give him the attention
