‘I am with you WB2. And when the pressure is on him most, he can produce quality games.’
Sorry Geets, but Xhaka under any sort of pressure is usually when he does something idiotic and costs us.
He played well by his recent standards yesterday, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking we don’t need to bin him ASAP - a couple more decent performances to help sell him January would be great, in fact.
Not sure what disappoints me more, you thinking Xhaka rises to the occasion when the pressure is on, or you agreeing with that absolute clown WB2.
Hope you had a good Christmas, mate.

3 - Granit Xhaka has scored three direct free-kick goals for Arsenal in the Premier League, surpassed only by Thierry Henry (12), Alexis Sánchez (5) and Robin van Persie (5). Technique.

Sanchez got 5 free kick goals for us? I can't remember any of them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember a few off the top of my head.
One against Southampton in the League Cup, which was a worldie, one against Hull away, one against Middlesbrough away....I don't remember the others. There may have been one against Stoke?
Hope we sign Brenner, Soumore and Aouar.
Surprised Santi baby didn't score 3 or more tbh.
Anyway, as delighted as I am with the win yesterday (especially against that lot), I do also think that Chelsea were genuinely terrible yesterday.
They spent £300m but they look bang average. Very passive in possession, gaps in midfield, fullbacks getting done 1v1, wingers not tracking back etc.
On paper, they should have won that game comfortably.
So whilst I am glad with how we played, and the performance of the youngsters, Chelsea were very bad, which helped our cause. Let's hope we can build on this win with victories against Brighton and West Brom - both very tough games - and maybe I can start to gather a bit of (foolish) belief once again...
Chelsea were bad because we made them bad.
And on paper they ain't all that. Dodgy keeper, a pensioner holding their defence together, Tammy Welbeck up front, and the biggest transfer flop on the wing.
Interested to know who snooky_49 wants to win in the Burnley Leeds game. Does he want us to keep position or keep the gap?
I agree to an extent, and I think we surprised them with a few inclusions, which they weren't sure how to prepare for. But I still expected better from a side that was being deemed a title challenger less than 2 weeks ago.
They do have quality players, but are being let down by Lampard's tactics, and some still need to adjust.
Werner and Pulisic alone cost £110m, they brought on £70m 'wonder-kid' Havertz in second-half, yet they didn't muster a shot on target until Abraham (ironically a youth player) scored. That's really quite poor.

Rumour mill says we’ve moved on from Aouar, and have turned our attention to Julian Brandt instead.
Brenner? Presumably you’re going by more than YouTube clips?
Judging by what I’ve seen of him there, would much rather give Balogun his chance.
Loan / sell Nketiah in January.

When people hate they hate. Xhaka wasnt that bad before. He was one of our better constant players. People have forgotten about it. Everyone is entitled to his opinion. So be it.

They're in shocking form, but I don't know if they're shocking players. Time will tell. It's their 1st season in the Prem, so they should get some leeway, but I really don't think Lampard's getting the best out of them.
Brandt is just a smokescreen.

Oh, and imagine if we’d signed Jorginho instead of Partey, and had to console ourselves with ‘at least he always puts his penalties away’

I know Lex. Dont know where that link comes from? Dortmund let him go? Not sure. No links from the German press so far.
This is a massive win for us. No doubt. Need to continue with the wins otherwise this count for nothing.
