Why? That will be plenty to pay for Xhaka and Elneny new contracts.

Get Jonjo to replace Xhaka and it's a class deal

If we sell / loan / rent out for children’s parties Mohammed Elneny, I don’t mind keeping Granit Xhaka for another season.

Extending his contract would be madness though.

I could maybe understand activating a one year extension to keep his value in case he has a good year and teams have money next year but a new 4 year contract on more money seems like one of the most stupid decisions in footballing history

Everyone is reporting it so I don’t have doubt he’ll sign an extension. Maybe J99 was right (for once) and his agent played it beautifully. Maybe he never wanted to leave in the first place 🤔

With the addition of White and likely of Maddison, how are we in terms of homegrown? Can we pass on on Ramsdale and sign a proper keeper then?

Even with Partey injured, signing a GK has to be our priority. With Xhaka now staying, hopefully that has the knock on effect of reducing the transfer funds available, making Ramsdale actually impossible (rather than the ‘other’ kind of impossible).

Those are our only HG players. Bellerin and AMN are most likely off, too. I think Willock and Nelson are at an age where we don’t have to register them in our PL squad so can’t really count them either. So basically our HG situation is still really bad, even if we sign Maddison and Ramsdale

But of that list, only Bellerin and AMN are likely to leave. So if we were OK last season, surely we should be OK this season too? Two leaving, replaced by White and one of either Maddison or Ramsdale (god help us!)

Homegrown is not a problem. We only have 14 non-HG, including Runar, Willian and Laca.

Willock and Nelson would have to be registered if they are still here. But, again, not an issue.

Onana has pulled the plug on a move to Lyon. Apparently a bigger club is now interested.
