Sam Allardyce on Maitland-Niles:
"The problem with Ainsley is his position. His only position that he wants to play is centre midfield. The reason he came to West Brom - which he forced through - Edu and Arteta didn't want him to come, was because I said he'd play in midfield."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Told ya yesterday fat Sam is stirring the pot.
Why would Edu and Arteta not want Ains to play in midfield?

The ones that (we) didn't 'get away:
Cedric
Kolasinac
Maitland-Niles
Nketiah
Which of these do you think will feature most for us?
Which of these do you hope will feature most for us?
Which do you think will turn out to be most useful to the squad?
Which do you think will feature the least?
1. Unfortunately, unless the new chap is an actual RB, I think Cedric will feature the most out of these guys
2. Obviously hope it's AMN
3. I hope it's AMN - in which case I also hope my first answer will be wrong

Too much fuss made about Maitland-Niles for not to give him a chance. Though the question should be who will look good in Arteta's team after the first 3 games?
And I think Arteta will play him in CM as a replacement for Xhaka. Or as a wing back if he sticks with a 3.
Nah, Arteta is a caant. The player has shown him up on social media and he'll make Ains sit it out before subbing him on 2 mins before FT, probably against AFC Wimbledon
Needs must m8. Look at who is available in CM. Elneny, Loko. Odegaard looked quite bad in CM against City so I don't know how long that experiment is going to last. Xhaka comes back for the Spurs game. And Partey is going to behind because of the injury, match fitness and missing part of preseason.

Getting a chance with Arteta is starting 1 game in 10 and being hauled off at HT, never to be seen again because they didn’t take their chance. He’s done it with both Martinelli and AMN.
I am thankful Edu was brave enough to buy younger players. His job is as much under threat as Arteta's.
It’s the only positive to take out of the Summer. If and when they flop with Artitler, they will at least have time on their side with the next manager (or head coach hopefully). Just gotta hope the damage Artitler does to them is not irreversible by the time he’s gone.
I’m pretty sure the Japanese guy we’ve signed is gonna play RCB. Which puts another nail in Saliba’s coffin. Hopefully it at least opens the door for AMN.
Arsenal transfer window business:
IN:
Nuno Tavares
Albert Sambi Lokonga
Ben White
Martin Odegaard
Aaron Ramsdale
Takehiro Tomiyasu
OUT (sold/loan):
Reiss Nelson
Lucas Torreira
Mark McGuinness
Trae Coyle
Zech Medley
Dinos Mavropanos
Daniel Ballard
Ben Sheaf
Matt Smith
Matteo Guendouzi
William Saliba
Tyreece John-Jules
Harry Clarke
Joe Willock
Miguel Azeez
Alex Runarsson
Hector Bellerin
We also extended contracts with ESR, Xhaka and Nelson.
Whether you agree with all that or not, seems a lot of business done this summer.
Facking hell, the amount of outgoing players Chelsea had
Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham has called on the club to stick together ahead of a crucial run of matches this month.
“At times like this it is critical we stick together and stay positive. We have a very important run of games coming up after the international break and I’m confident we can and will come out fighting.”
“Our approach for this window was framed by fully recognising that we are not where we want to be on the pitch — finishing eighth last season, with no European football for the first time in many years.”
“This is well below the standards each of us all have, and of course that our fans rightly demand of us, which is to be competing for the biggest trophies in the game.”
“Whilst we would love to jump from where we are to where we want to be in an instant, we need to be realistic that the gap is too large to do that. As such, our activity this window has been focused on youth.”
“ Our strategy is to fill our squad with some of Europe’s most exciting young talent, with players from both our academy and further afield, that can grow and develop together under Mikel to take us where we want to get to.
“Whilst this will not be overnight, we can make positive progress, and it gives us the best route to future success in a sustainable way.”
“ Although Covid and no European football bring financial challenges, our owners, Stan and Josh Kroenke, have sanctioned very significant investment this transfer window in support of our strategy,” he said.
“This has included signing Nuno Tavares (21), Ben White (23), Sambi Lokonga (21), Martin Odegaard (22), Aaron Ramsdale (23) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (22), as well as renewing deals with Emile Smith-Rowe (21) and Kieran Tierney (24). All of these players are signed on long-term contracts.”
Be ExCiTeD
Tbf I don't have a problem with anything he's said.
My concern is whether the current manager is the right person to be in charge of the project.
I don’t either. It’s more that they still feel fully convinced Artitler is the man to take this squad forward.
And although he is spot on saying there is a huge gap from where we are and where we want to be, should he be saying that publicly? It seems like he’s telling fans to dampen their expectations (not that we have any).
