Arteta plays left footers on the right and vice versa, yet is targeting Moussa Diaby and Raphina, left footed right wingers, as long term left wingers?

Interesting call.

Pep hardly rotates?!

In wide positions alone they have Mahrez, Bernardo, Foden and Grealish who have been in and out of the team and even the likes of Alvarez and De Bruyne have played there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bernardo wants to leave and has for while. Something going on with Foden and Pep, and I wonder if he also on the chopping block. Grealish has been a flop and tbh still is if Foden/Pep fixed their relationship. Alvarez is not getting in ahead of Haaland and I doubt he is there long term. They don't have a proper replacement for De Bruyne which is why they under perform whenever he is 'rested' in the red zone.

He is very skillful, tricky, can score, has masses of potential to be top class.

And I saw that watching him 5 min playing

What is it for most of them, 4 titles in 5 years or something?

Some of those players are two footed. And can score coming on from the left as well as right.

Zinchenko and Jesus?

Both spent 6 years at City. Didn't leave as soon as another player was signed.

No-one is saying that if Martinelli loses his place and isn't getting games he won't leave in a couple of years. That is natural squad development.
But buying a player to sell a current starting XI player? Nah.

How much playing time did Jesus get? And then was played wide when he wanted to start in the middle?

Lets not pretend that young players were happy to sit on the bench under the guise of competition. Especially when they come in with £100m fees and were not flops.

How did we sign Odegaard from Madrid?

Arteta said we need more depths in our squad. So why would another winger mean selling Martinelli ffs? I dont get that.

Question I asked dj was whether he thought we will sign a long term (young) wide player in the summer now that we have signed Trossard.

Pep bought two strikers for Jesus to leave. Before that he spent 6 years fighting against Aguero for a place without leaving

Odegaard didn't even reach double figures in games for Real did he?

But in both cases they saw any chance of being an established starter blocked!

You didn't ask me that?

But now you have, no I very much doubt we will buy a left sided attacker this summer.

I think we rather looking for a midfielder than a new winger.

Yes, in the case of Jesus he was literally told that after 6 years he isn't wanted.
In the case of Odegaard, he was never a starter, barely even a squad player. Many young players have that and leave.
Very different to the Martinelli situation, where you suggested he would leave if we signed a left winger even though he currently "has the shirt". No fight, no competition, just straight out the door.

We might do. Depends on the Nelson situation as we have no real competition for Saka and that pretty much leaves us one short. Unless Vieira is seen as that option moreso than centrally.

Talking of Nelson. Do you know for how long he is out?

posted on 25/1/23

Not heard any news. Shame, as he started looking half decent and an actual option.

Yup. He was in good form. I read on twitter he could be back soon already training but United came too early.

Aye, an injured sub is as pointless as a horny, seexy woman in Peteys bed.

But its pretty much the same. In case of Odegaard he felt he had no path to being an established starter at Madrid. And he was not an unknown player when he was signed. He was young but he still felt that way. Didn't want to wait.

Martinelli is the established starter this season. I think he will know Trossard is no direct competition to him because of his age. Which is why I partly wanted us to sign experience (the other more likely to affect a title run). However £50m+ on a young wide player is quite different to that. What does it say to him? Agents advising their players are not stupid.

It is nothing close to the same
Odegaard had no future at Real, he had no present or past either
City literally told Jesus to go cos they didn't want him.

Arsenal adding a player, and competition, to the squad is very, very different.
