Monaco close to agreeing a fee for balogun
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Great! hopefully we can include a sell on clause or something.
Kudus has one for West Ham so I don't see why we couldn't get one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We do for all players.

What baffles me is it's not like Pepe had a terrible loan spell. Was a regular starter for Nice last season till he got injured and absolutely nobody will take any chance on him. His record for us is no worse than average for a wide player (better than average even) though certainly not worth the fee we paid for him.
For some very weird reason, Arsenal constantly have problems shifting deadwood that other clubs don't seem to have. With us, it's a consistent pattern. The number of signings we've released on frees over the years is pretty shocking and a major reason we have the most abysmal record of player sales in the league and have very high net spends.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is literally an article on the Man Utd board today highlighting how they struggle to make money in transfer fees.
I mean, we could sell Saka for £150m to appease the "we never get good money" crowd

It's such a small club mentality. Who cares? If players are good, why would we sell? And if they are not, then obviously they won't command big fees.
Iwobi and Ox for £65m was elite bantz
Ox and Iwobi both forced a move away. Ox was fed up playing wing back and Iwobi wanted more wages. Similar to what's happening to Balogun.
Does show how bad Everton were at buying. Chelsea today?
Back further we somehow got £17m for Hleb, €30m for Adebayor, €20m for Kolo, €28m for Nasri, €19m for Song, €16m for Vela, €20m for Vermaelen.
Lil' Joey Willock cost close to €30m as well.

Iwobi didn't force a move, he didn't want to go at all.
Clubs knew that we needed to sell in those days. We were the archetypical selling club, first to develop and then to pay off the stadium.
Wish we had kept Willock. Is he really worse than Vieira?

He was offered between £120k-£140k a week wages, which we could not match.

Similar to Balogun. Do we want to pay him a lot of money to sign an extension as a no.3?

But we still got good prices. Cesc and Nasri were in the top 3 PL transfers the year they went, only Aguero was with them.

Absolutely we did! Top dollar.
Iwobi went because Pepe came in and Wobes didn't want to be pushed down the pecking order when a club was offering him starting XI place.
He probably also saw the likes of Nelson and Saka developing and knew his future with us was short.

How many downplayed that tiff with Klopp after being subbed.
It goes back to my point. Really, if you want good money, you have to feel pain when a player leaves. And I mean real pain and not that fake stuff Pete feels for Tierney.
If Balogun goes on to score 30+ for the next two seasons in France and Monaco sell him for £120m to PSG, I don't think a 10% sell on clause is going to make up for the regret.

A move would make Salah equally paid like Ronaldo rumours said which make a move very attractive to Salah. It remains to be seen if Liverpool is willing to let him go.
They would have to bring Darwin in to start, Diaz, Jota and Gakpo backing up. Not that bad tbf.
Still a good strike force but without Mo ...mmhhh lovely I would say.
