My wish for City assuming Saka/Marti are not ready

That back 4 would get torn to shreds. Would also ruin the entire defensive dynamic. City is not the game to start experimenting like that, especially when we're already so vulnerable at home.

Doku will probably start on the left for City will he? Either way it should be Tomi there, for him or Grealish. Partey is only good there when we dominate possession

ESR would be out of his depth to start in such a game.

Your still not convinced of Partey and Rice in the MF?

No. That will invite City on to us. City's weakness is without the ball at the moment. Foden, Grealish etc don't do enough to win the ball back.

Partey and Zinny inverting into midfield means we will out number and control possession. They don't have Rodri.

If you control possession, they cannot do anything.

Why do you assume City will dominate possession without Rodri/De Bruyne/Gundogan?

Why not? It becomes self-fulfilling if we sit back and let them play.

It's City

posted on 5/10/23

Its not the same City without Rodri, De Bruyne and Gundogan. Their players in CM don't do enough. But a lot of teams still give them the ball. City's strength is a sharp/drilled attack, and they will eventually get past your defences!

posted on 5/10/23

De Bruyne has missed most the season. Gundogan left. It's only Rodri they will miss. I'm sure one player being out will not mean they no longer keep possession

posted on 5/10/23

Yes. But teams still play them like nothing has changed. They are always trying to counter-attack. We are the home team, and we should take it to them. I bet they will be setup for long ball again with Alvarez behind Haaland.

City games never go as we expect. Should be same approach as community shield, nicely balanced if I remember right

posted on 5/10/23

We were losing that and lucky to get an equaliser so late.

posted on 5/10/23

We were the better team though, didnt create loads but overall controlled the game.

posted on 5/10/23

We didn't control the game.

They had more possession 55%-45%, shot and shots on target and were winning till the 101 minute.
