The challenge was against the rules
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to control a football is against the rules? That's a new one.
Please elaborate Suso.
Do you mean Nani used excessive force?
no having a high foot and not making contact with the ball while hitting the opponent is, it was harsh but can you understand why he gave it?
Suso The Magician
SSN just had a UEFA ref on his words were i was amazed to see a red card,
FIFA Law 12: If a player plays in a dangerous manner in a “normal” challenge, the referee should not take any disciplinary action. #nani
FIFA Law 12: If the action is made with obvious risk of injury the referee should caution the player. #nani
FIFA Law 12: If a player denies an obvious goal-scoring opportunity in a dangerous manner the referee should send off the player. #nani
Discuss?
Just think that with 99% of the pundits/referees/professionals/managers saying it was never a red and only Keano saying that it was how many column inches has he generated. He was hardly in the news for the past couple of years and now he is front page of every sports daily....i say well done to him.

You'll have to point out where that is written in the 'laws of the game' that every one is so quick to quote without actually reading. I can see exactly why he gave it in real time, that though, doesn't make it the right decision.
Keane is bitter and twisted. that is all. shame he is a pundit because he is a terrible one!

well that was a red? did you complain about that?
Don't debate with Suso, he's been on our boards all day looking to WUM.
Suso The Magician (U11770)
Tell me, what do you think Eboue was doing with his leg? He wasn't trying to control the ball, was he?
A very different incident to last night's, in my opinion.
SSN just had a UEFA ref on his words were i was amazed to see a red card,
====================================
Pierre Luigi Collina who was the assessor backed the ref's decision to send him off. Get over it, it was a red.
so it doesnt matter if you completely miss the ball and hit the opponent aslong as you tried to control the ball
(kash) Pakistan 71 - 48 India (U1108)
When you say 'it was a red'... it's debatable whether the decision was correct.
I think you need to understand that point.
It's hardly a shock that the assessor at the game hasn't criticised the referee.
That is now 2 people who think it was a red, and a load of rival fans, who are completely objective.
There are far, far more people who think it was a very harsh decision.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
No where near the same, Nani had his eyes on the ball the whole time and was trying to control it, eboue was no where near the ball. Not even comparable tbh.
well that was a red? did you complain about that?
--------------------------------
Actually.... i remember very clearly turning to a mate and saying that was ridiculous.
We (UTD) have been on the other side of the coin on many an occasion... So i wont sit and cry.
But the folk on here who are just lazily regurgitating Keano's idiotic viewpoint are even bigger morons than Keane himself.
He went straight for evra.

Are you being facetious on purpose, or are you just not prepared to consider the point a bit more thoroughly?
Unnecessary force.
Think about it.
Nani's challenge used force that you'd expect from a player trying to control the ball as he was - if you think it was unintentional, anyway.
Eboue was trying to head the ball. The position of his leg seemed to be unnecessary in terms of what he was trying to achieve.
Both decisions are down to interpretation, but for me, that is a clear distinction between the two.
it was a foul and a harsh red card, i can just see why the ref gave it, he thought it was over the top
