Maybe joining this thread a little late, but here's my contribution!

I don't like words like 'vile' - there are numerous examples of people behaving differently on the pitch, and I think we should be quick before using such words when dealing with an emotive sport.

However, the OP does touch on an important point.

Liverpool fans feel Suarez is picked on, or that there's an agenda against him.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I can think of very few players that get up to the antics that he does.

The exaggeration and feigning injury are part of his game, and it winds people up. To the extent that when he does actually dive, people remember it more.

When you add into the equation the kicks off the ball and the history he has for what can only be described as violence on the pitch, it's no wonder rival fans don't like him.

I don't blame Liverpool fans for defending him, although I think some of that defence borders on the delusional, to be honest.

Nothing of the sort all I asked for was an explanation, he's singling out Suarez in that game when I can 100% confirm Suarez was not the only player to go down easy or over exaggerate being hurt, I was at that game saw the same thing from players on both sides.

I've no opinion on him either way just called him out as I saw it and he tip toed around it for a while before finally answering the question, it's all just to bash Suarez plain and simple.

You all need to take a look at yourselves and ask why do I get so enraged by a player who has no affiliation to my club? Why does his every action force me to go ranting on the Internet about him?

I think it's lazy to call it obsession.

I mean, what does that really mean? We're rivals - of course we're going to debate each other's clubs and players.

You're probably right, some of the criticism is deluded - and if you read my post you'll see I criticised the use of words such as 'vile'.

But equally, people that blindly defend him are, in my opinion, hiding from the truth - that he has more faults than your average player, and a lot of the criticism is justified.

All fans are obsessed with their rival clubs, or in Liverpools case a rival from history.

All I can speak for is myself and I've never posted an article not relating to lfc.

If Suarez was a united player I wouldn't like him I'm sure but I certainly wouldn't waste my time creating articles just to have a go at him, I see no point to it. I don't like rio for example but couldn't be a bit bothered creating an article about him and Torres for example.

We get grief for defending Luis which goes ott at times but look at it from our point of view he constantly gets abuse, fair enough he's a pest on the pitch, but people call him all sorts of things with vile and odious being the most prevalent when it's fairly well documented he's a decent fella off the pitch, couple that with the fact that he does things on the pitch that a huge majority of players do yet they don't get nearly as much abuse as Luis does.

Say what you like but all this just reeks of hatred towards him cause he's a great great player who plays for a club you don't like so you just keep bashing away at him for acts a player from all your clubs have performed. That's why we defend him, that's why we feel the need to as he's one of us and flip it around and everyone of you would do the same.

I could take the time to list great great Liverpool players I have admired for the last 40 or so years but to be quite frank, there are that many, it would simply take too much time

Go back to Smash and Grab (who both contirbuted to ruining my football supporting childhood) and working forwards from there, there must be over a 100 players I have admired greatly
