the english league is the weakest in memory

we don't have any teams that actually deserve to go further

Spain.
World and European champions, 3 Spanish teams in the last 8, best league.

Too much money in the PL.

This is exactly what my article is meant to point at. CL is a quality Tournament, below par and substandard teams should be knocked out of the competition as soon as possible.

look at the standard of teams that we have got in the QFs

Barca
Madrid
Bayren
Juventus
PSG
Dortmund

and then a couple of slightly lightweight ones

Football has its revolutions it seems. The PL will come back, stronger than ever.

agreed.

they all had super tough draws and were unlucky this season.

funnily enough England could have 3 teams through in the europa league.

===================================

Some revolutions are for better some are for worse, i think English teams dominating the later stages of CL for a spell of three years was a low for the football's over all quality as it promoted physical strength and demoted silky flareful and technical football.

Now the English teams have got some catching up to do. unless they change their infrastructure right from the lower levels of their club academies, i don't see their current demise in Europe slowing down.

Ha, the fecking Spanish league is about as dull as it gets, even the French league is better

Silk, wasn't it a poor ref decision that sent united out?

Ironically, Real Madrid play a sort of PL league style under Mourinho; super-fast, devastating counterattacks, based on a solid yet adaptable defensive line. And they play it better than an PL team currently does. They beat Barcelona twice that way recently.

So did Madrid, Juventus, Shakhtar, Bayren and Dortmund but the quality always tells.

Two styles; both equally viable and good to watch when they work.

And they are 13 points, yes! you red it right, 13 points behind barca and only one point ahead of Atlatico

La liga is bankrupt and corrupt with total uneven distribution of income in a country which is on the edge of complete social breakdown.
es verdad y lo sabes.

The problem is PL teams are trying to play like Barcelona (and by extension, Spain), that is the cause of the decline. Before when they played to their strengths, not many teams could handle the pace of Premier League teams.

On quality alone United would be there, maybe City who for some reason can't seem to perform in Europe.

United would likely be there but for a bad referee decision.

I would suggest it is unlikely English teams will repeat this performance next season in the CL so you will excuse me if I don't worry.

=========================================

No, the article isn't about ref decisions and it should not be an excuse. Chelsea last year against Barca had a man sent out yet they survived. if you are a top team you must know what to do under which circumstances

I said it worked against Barcelona, not everyone.

total blip. If England go 5 years without a finalist then we could even start this conversation.

Wrong, only one style is more viable and beautiful to watch and that is the one that English teams generally lack

The article is a silly point and laugh wum. That's it.

Your opinion Silk. I have fallen asleep watching La Liga before; boring as hell most of the time. The style of football there is overrated, massively!

And the point?

By the way Madrid side is much more technical and better at passing game than any of the English sides. they don't rely on power. Alonso, Sergio Ramos, Ozil, Demaria, higuin ctc etc all really good technically
