You're going to love the season when Fergie retires.

Enjoy it while you can.

I couldn't care less about performance, this season was all about getting our title back and so far it's been successful.

It's next season I hope, with a few signings that we will start to play some more free flowing football like a few years ago.

Sir Alex used to say that winning isn't enough, you have to do it "the United way." He hasn't said that for a number of years now and I think that's because we are playing in a manner which is very un-United like. We are a hard working, grafting outfit and ruthlessly efficient. But entertainment is not something we are providing at the moment. Football is a results business though and we can't be faulted in that area.

I can totally understand this point of view, and yes you are right.

But i still think football is more than just winning.

I am 33 years old so i've seen a lot of Utd teams over the years and one thing i've always thought we've been is entertaining. But not recently.

As Fba said I think this season was about reclaiming the title and not letting city build on last year. I agree our football hasn't been very inspiring at times but he's getting the job done

But you agree that it's not enjoyable to watch ?

Or does the fact we win make it ok ?

I agree with you. During the city game I actually said to my mate that I honestly couldn't wait for this season to be over. I think our football 95% of the time has been pretty bland. Don't get me wrong I am happy where we are in the league however many matches this season I have to say I have been fairly bored which I have never really really before watching us.
As for fergie retiring. Yes it will be a sad day however does why do people feel of a sudden united will crumble? We have the money and certainly have the appeal to match any other club in the world

United won't crumble. What you will lose is that gritty determination to see out a game when you're second best. As far as i'm concerned, that is what the manager gives.

Hmmmm yes because no other manager can do that. What a silly point to make. We will get another top manager in that is for sure. And I am sure a club like united wont go rushing into appointing any old manager like Chelsea. I am sure we will find the right one

What on the same level as a manager who won you 17 league titles? Are you dim?

Modern managers are tactical genuis' with a touch of finess in their coaching. You name another manager in the same level as Fergie that can drive the players (almost scare them sh|tless) into getting a result?

Dont turn this into a argument please

17 league titles??? No I am certainly not the one who is dim.

Yes he will be a loss however clubs actually move on you know. And fergie now scares other managers into getting a result now does he????

i want to see more of kagawa and Rooney, whenever they play together they link up really well.

its only the past couple of months we have been boring. has everyone forgotten literally conceding first and then going on the win in almost all our games?
or games like the reading game, hardly boring.

we have gone from having a shocking defence and awesome forwards to have an awesome defence and shocking forwards.

Sorry, i meant 12!

You're problem is that you don't fully appreciate how important Fergie is to the whole club. To actually win a league with money bags of Chelsea and City and with 15 point gap?! That's amazing.

It's not shocking forwards it is the creativity from midfield that is shocking. Mainly our truly abysmal wing play. All 3 of our wingers this season have been truly woeful and they need to pull their socks up for next season IMO.

posted on 15/4/13

Serial of course we appreciate fergie. He is a true legend and we or no club will ever get the likes of him again. However him going wont be the end of the world. End of

So rvp Went insane for no reason after scoring his first goal in 2 months?
pretty shocking if you ask me.

we hav had some fantastic games this season, newcastle, Southampton, arsenal, spurs, reading, norwich, Aston villa, city, stoke(first game) Southampton, Fulham just off the top of my head

posted on 15/4/13

Yeah he had a poor run Greg however quite a few of them games he literally got no service. Unless you are messi or ronaldo players simply can't do it by themselves. A number of games I saw I don't think he had a sniff.
As for the matches you have mentioned I am assuming you meant they were good games rather than us playing well???

I think it's more to do with the tactics than anything. Recently Utd have been sitting a lot deeper, but it doesn't always work against the better sides. Like the losses against Chelsea and City. Oh and also zero creativity from the midfield doesn't help.

no... we've had some fantastic PARTS of games

of the games you've mentioned...

Spurs, absolutely pathetic first half, second half for all our posession we never really looked like equalizing IMO.

Aston Villa?.... i was ready for kicking holes in the tv we were that bad at 2-0 down... we'd a good half hour, nothing more.

Norwich... won 4-0... 3 goals in the last part of the game masked a pretty average/poor performance in the rest of the game.

Reading... we were awful, just outscored them, but the display was shocking.

I haven't enjoyed this season at all... without a doubt the least enjoyable title win ever, our results have somehow papered over that we just haven't played well all season

Our front line played well, our defenders were poor so its been 50/50 all season but this article is about us being boring and entertaining ?
I agree though recently we have been terrible

posted on 15/4/13

I don't agree on that no service rubbish, rvp has missed SO many chances recently...

posted on 15/4/13

10/11 title win wasn't a vintage Utd season either, we had a shocking away record, what was it....6 away wins all season? Only felt great because we overtook Liverpool's 18 league title record.

posted on 15/4/13

It's not rubbish Greg. Yes RVP has missed chances granted however we have hardly created a host of chances for him

There are a few things that need looked at. Are RVP and Rooney the forward partnership that we really want at the club. I would hope yes, and I hope that next season they are given a real chance to gel together, because they've only played together in fits and starts.

After a niggly first season, I hope Kagawa gets more games, perhaps playing behind the front 2, to show his creativity and how good a player he can be.

We need a really top class CM to play alongside Carrick. Anderson doesn't cut it. Jury still out on Cleverley. Having a Fletcher back from 3 years ago would be helpful but I can't see that either.

If we are to be tactically variable, then when switching from the above 3 to more wing-style play, we need to play with one up front and 3 in midfield with 2 widemen. This will hopefully allow us to dominate the midfield and create more space and chances for the wingers to exploit. The wingers need to do their bit also of course, but it helps if we can give them decent oportunities to make crosses from, and not just give them a pass on the halfway line and hope they can beat a couple all the time. Our movement off the ball against the top teams is fairly poor, everyone always looks static, and I think this is where we are being let down.

A decision needs to be made on Nani. Personally I would let him go, forget about what he did a a few seasons ago, you can't live off that forever. Valencia's hard-working nature and versatility just let's him stay, and I would keep Young also. And of course we don't know how Zaha will turn out.

Yesterday's match seemed to sum us up - we were decent, didn't look like losing, but didn't create loads of chances either.
