The thing with SAF is that he's a winner and he'll want that points total as high as possible
no, and no. If fergie leaves Van Persie out it will be for the benefit of his team, no one elses. The only way RVP will be rested will be if his manager believes the atmosphere will effect him, or he is injured.
Personally, I hope Robin plays and can hear exactly what the Arsenal support thinks of him.
RVP will play and no doubt score
United will be professional on Sunday, they'll want to win to help Tottenham after they helped us last weekend
Not that I think there's a big issue in RVP's head, but I think you should ask whether leaving him out this Sunday would help next time he goes back?
It would almost be delaying the inevitable, and allowing the media to create a story where there isn't one.
I hope he plays as ive got him in my FF team and since Suarez is banned, there's no other decent striker to put in who's on form , however seeing as he let RVP play the full 90 and took Rooney off around the 70min mark? Doesnt that indicate who will start on Sunday?
I think the bitterness works both ways. If Arsenal fans weren't so petty, demanding they don't do a Guard of Honour because of Van Persie winning a trophy then I would say "Let's be respectful, leave him on the bench..."
However, they've spent all season labelling him a money-grabbing traitor, when it's all so clear to see he rejected Manchester City's quoted £300,000 a week salary and winning a trophy. All his interviews have been about winning things and you could see it on his face when it was over. He's done nothing but compliment Arsenal and be respectful, but they [not everyone] have just been disrespectful.
He's put up with it all year and it'd be nice to give him his moment in the Sun too and have one over them.
I'm not saying the atmosphere would stop RVP playing his natural game. I'm sure RVP would be fine.
But perhaps the boss might just want to be the bigger man and make a gesture that he may think is decent to the Arsenal fans and play Rooney and Hernandez.
United will be professional on Sunday, they'll want to win to help Tottenham after they helped us last weekend
--------------------------
I think helping Tottenham out will be the last thing on United's mind. Tottenham won for Tottenham, not so United could wrap up the league early.
Personally, i wouldn't play him.
I will give all the first-teamers time off to relax - bar Rooney, make him captain and play the rest.
People go on about points tally but who gives a sh it? Apart from being a pub quiz question does anyone really care about that? I know i don't.
It is time to play the rest, give a few a game and see what they are made of. Lindergaard for example needs 2 games to get his winners medal, play him...
Robb Lannister
I think not playing their strongest team will be more of a gesture of disrespect than anything.
Why an earth would he be rested?? We have nothing else to play for. To leave him out just out of respect is utter nonsense. He has played pretty much in all our games this season and has to play in this one. Don't really care what other fans think to be honest, they can be bitter all they want. In fact the amount of abuse RVP has had to take from them this season it would be nice if he could derail their pursuit for top 4 by grabbing the winner
Patriarch
I take your point but playing a strong other 10 players plus say, Hernandez is hardly a league cup side.
I personally hope he does play simply to annoy Piers Morgan. But I can see the boss having one eye on his legacy and i'm sure the media would be ultra-positive if he left out RVP.
In an indirect way it would make him out to be an even bigger man than Wenger and be a great mind game in a way.

I completely agree. Would love to see Powell start & maybe involve Lingard & Cole.

2nd choice keepers are automatically given a medal regardless of whether they play 10 games or not.

Yes, the standing up part was perhaps an irrelevance.

And how do you express displeasure at a football match? (assuming you have gone to one)
======================================
Well, if something makes me angry I will probably shout exactly what I'm thinking.
I have never booed.
Each to their own.

You're right, they should boo him. He moved from Arsenal to United and if RVP thought that he was never going to receive any abuse then he's as delusional as the Scousers getting all bent out of shape because people want Suarez heavily punished.
Robb
I just don't see how the media will see it as a good thing. Just play your best player, he's earned his place.
Red Cog
United have been disjointed and pedestrian enough without playing a second string side. Fans will be paying good money to go and watch them at the Emirates and sending out a weakened team to then more than likely get beat by Arsenal is not what they paid to see.
