The 'logic' is this:
1. RVP leaves because he wants to win trophies
2. He chooses Manchester United, something the Arsenal fans consider rivals.
But are MUFC and Arsenal really rivals anymore? I don't think so, these days it is more similar to whatever 'rivalry' United and Spurs have, or United and Everton for instance.
Even when watching the games these days, the games aren't particularly intense, nor is the fan behaviour in the terraces.
So to me, it is not logical at all.
Great song 8bit.
I miss garage.
It is one of life's greatest mysteries.
The bigger question is why is the OP so bitter about Arsenal?
I think the general assumption is many of us gooners were 'bitter' , but in my experience it's not really the case.
My understanding is that RVP wasn't given a choice of any other club but United, as Juve wouldn't of gone anywhere near the £24m Sir Alex put up.
One of those things really, not great to see your ex-girlfriend with a better looking bloke, but such is life!
Worst transfer ever for Arsenal
stupidity
should have sold him to city or abroad
he would have won the title at either City or United and there is no rivalry with City from a supporters or club level.
I'm not bitter towards arsenal. And you are wrong. Even if I was bitter towards arsenal, it wouldn't be a bigger question then why arsenal fans are bitter towards RVP.

True but consider this. If you were not able to provide and take care of that girl and give her the things she deserves, would you blame her for leaving?

I don't see the rivalry anymore, on match days it's often pretty quiet when United and Arsenal play.
There was a time when Arsenal (obviously when they were competing with us for the PL etc.) just really irritated me, like Liverpool do, you just really want to see them get battered in each game. But it's nothing like that anymore with Arsenal for me, they're just another club like Spurs and Everton competing for a top 4 place.
The only reason I like seeing Arsenal lose now is because of idiot posters on 606. Yes, 606 is the only reason I enjoy seeing Arsenal lose, that's how far they've fallen, and if someone said what I just said about my club, I'd take that as a bitter pill to swallow
Saying that though I do miss hating the Arsenal, and wish they were back being the second best team in England again

Well no, and that's what I am saying really. Top players will want both big money & trophies, and can you blame them?
Just not too bothered about RVP overall really, great player, good to see he is winning trophies (well a trophy) now.

Bubbly summer it up perfectly. You got very few decent arsenal fans on here. 95% are despicable
You want one reason? Take a look at his statement where he stated his desire to leave. (And this is coming from an Arsenal fan who has moved on from van Persie).
I can see why so many Arsenal fans are hostile towards him, but at the same time he complained about the same things that I see Arsenal fans moan about on a daily basis.

I wish more arsenal fans had the same view as you
They go on about him spending 6 years on the treatment table and only having one good season, all the more reason to sell him then, christ if he was world class for 7 seasons i could understand the bitterness.
They are still bitter over Ashley Cole mate dont worry its Arsenals style, they are soo deluded that they dont realise that all their best players jump ship because they actually want to win trophies. They tell themselves they leave for money to make themselves feel better.

.......................................
There were a fair few Arsenal fans who also didn't want to sell him to City even more or as much as United.
They had had enough of doing over the few seasons previous with Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Nasri.
I know exactly why you personally would have preferred it
TBH I think we would have won the title anyway.
Also the OP is mostly correct, RVP went for trophies and he is a good enough player to deserve to win things. He clearly wasn't going to do that at Arsenal no matter how much he loved the club so he went somewhere where he could win trophies.
I don't see what's wrong with Arsenal selling van Persie to us. We sold Silvestre to you lot after all...
Really stupid article. You thing Dortmund fans will roll out the carpet to welcome Goetze on his return as a Bayern? Why the stupid analogies with Goetze's incomparable situation - as if Dortmund fans will boo their best player on an important CL semi-final when they have to support their team.
As for RVP, I have no bitterness towards him. In fact, most of the anger by the fans at his departure was reserved for Wenger and our board. That said, he conducted himself in a fairly despicable manner with his comments that disrespected our club and his manager. It was heavily rumoured in his last weeks that he had reconsidered after our transfer activity but the club had already resolved to get rid to the highest bidder. He pretty much burnt his bridges. We deserved more loyalty from RVP than he showed us. At the very least, don't go gobbing off about your employers because your status and reputation was enhanced by a great season. Call me a cynic but I'm 100% certain he wouldn't have made those statements if he was still the sicknote he was. He just saw he was in great bargaining position and displayed his arrogance and treachery the first chance he got.
And believe it or not, money matters. If Arsenal had offered RVP a £240k a week contract, I'm dead certain he'd still be an Arsenal player.
