Well this is what I mean really.
Arsenal have "lost" players every season. Liverpool have lost players like Torres, Mascherano, Alonso among others over the past few years, it's no excuse.
Shall we write off £300m for Liverpool because they "lost" a title challenging squad?
There are no excuses required for a record points tally.
There's a valid reason it didn't result in an improved league position. If you can't understand that.. well..
"clutching at straws"
says the fan trying to claim that losing Dirk Kuyt and Maxi is equivalent to losing players of the quality of Modric and VDV.
Kuyt was a 31 year old who scored 2 goals in 34 league games in his last season and who was clearly coming to the end of his career. Maxi , never more than a squad player, also 31.
Both left for free.
Modric, 26, at the peak of his powers, left to Real Madrid for Euro40m.
VDV also at the top of his game, with a goal scoring record of better than 3 in 1 at Spurs (24 in 61 league games) sold for £11m.
So yeah, losing Kuyt & Maxi is just the same as losing VDV and Modric
* 1 in 3.
3 in 1, imagine that!

I did not say its the same where did I say that? What an idiot!! The point is loosing players is no excuse as other clubs lost players as well. Perhaps you just felt left out of the discussion and had to post that tripe to get attention...... it worked.
Having digs at Liverpool to prove that THFC have progressed is desperate and clutching at straws!!!! PHACT!!!!
We don't need straws when we finished above you. This winds Liverpool fans up cos you didn't win a trophy or even finish above Everton despite spending loads.
That's a fact

All teams do lose players.....true
My point being that there is a massive difference between losing key players of the highest quality and losing squad/fringe players.
Spurs losing the quality of Modric/VDV/King would have had an impact on us whether we changed manager or not. Its not an excuse, it's a reason.
We have made progress under AVB, despite losing such quality. Despite all the changes and injuries to key players all season long we have a greater number of points than last season.
Where you end in the league is not the sole measure of progress as it is as much a function of your ability/results as it is of the ability of other teams. Arsenal improved this season and so did Chelsea and hence they deposed us from the top 4, despite our improvements. Everton also improved and so did Liverpool.
However, LFC only moved up a position as Newcastle failed to improve and actually got significantly worse.
If NUFC had matched last season then LFC would have been 8th again. If Arsenal and Chelsea matched last season, Spurs would have been 3rd.
Consider this.......If Arsenal had lost their last game Spurs would have been 4th. So our destiny and final position was not in our hands. So if Arsenal lost = Spurs improved, but Arsenal won so Spurs have got worse...how can this be. It's not logical Jim
If we're nearly men this season Liverpool are "nowhere near" men

All I hear is that at LFC its all about trophies.....yet they are all glad they have failed to make Europe.
Greatteams making remarks (incorrect ones) about the quality of opposition in a Europa League semi-final displays huge arrogance and typifies LFC fans understanding of their modern day status.
Liverpools European ranking for next season will be 24th, 1 place higher than Europa Semi-finalists Basel
http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2014.html
difference being that Basel made Europe again so will be able to defend the 7 points they need to maintain their ranking. LFC on the other hand will not be able to defend the 24 points needed to maintain their ranking so that will plummet to 40th-50th ranking, where Fulham currently reside.
A European Super Power....yes, you were. But no more. Domestic powerhouse.....yes, back in the 80s. But no more. Teams like Basel are your equal. get used to it and show some humility!

Yes we are. And yet we have accomplished as much as you.

Thats like saying Sunderland accomplished as much as Liverpool.
Spurs achieved 5th place and European qualification...did LFC?

Well done on the Europa league qualification

Finally, a decent Liverpool fan
oh wait.. he's a clart n all..
Its funny that LFC fans mock teams for qualifying for the Europa, a competition which they deride, yet they are not good enough to qualify themselves.....what does that say about your club Greatteams?

Spurs are currently better than we are.

Does the intertoto still keep mid table teams like Liverpool busy?
One day I will come across a Spurs fan that isn't a WUM.
I'd rather we missed out on Champions League by 1 point than by 12 points.
Spurs season was competitive and meaningful right up to the 90th minute of the 38th game, literally!
Liverpool's finished 2 months ago. You fans do not realise how insignificant LFC have become in the big shake up at the end of the season. At least we were there and mixing it, while LFC fans watched on as their players went through the motions for 2 months.

And as is the custom you screwed up
LFC fans watched on as their players went through the motions for 2 months.
Well that's all we had to do on the 9th of March because the opposition didn't turn up
I am not sure we did screw it up. I am open in my respect of the way both CFC & Arsenal finished the season.
Arsenals form was W8D2 in their last 10....that is exceptional. we maintained pretty even form whether you measure the last 5 the last 10 or last 15 games, and we lost twice in the last 22 games of the season.
Unlike Harry's Spurs we have been consistent. No boom and bust, so no, we did not screw it up, we were beaten by better teams who performed exceptionally well.
