England are obsessed with having an all rounder in the side which is why Woakes got picked - as close to Bresnan a possible. Problem is, we dont have any good ones - Woakes is a 1 day pie thrower. Tremlett and Finn need games..at least one should be in. Why 2 Spinners? If Woakes had to play, Kerrigan should have made way, rather than a specialist batsman looking for form. At least Tremlett and Finn will be on the plane after this...

Really poor this AM from the Selectors for this one - Australia already far and away now. Complete nonsense this morning on every level.

Na, the future is bright. We're a very good team.

I just can't believe we put such average players in, when the likes of Finn, Tremlett and Monty are available.

Would never have happened if we weren't cruising. Strikes of arrogance to me, and has annoyed me a lot.

No room for this sort if idiocy Down Under. England have got away with some dodgy selections this series bit not today.

I just hope they select the team based on those reliable facets - form, the wicket and the conditions!

I do wonder sometimes If these are still a consideration!

England need to bowl well tomorrow anything around 400 and the games wide open..

Generally when a team wins we say its a team effort. In this series, from England it has been Bell and Swann. and obviously an odd burst of Broad and Anderson spell.

England's batting unit has failed and they are very lucky to be facing an australian line up whose batting starts and finishes with the openers. Without those middle order collapses England could have been pushed to the throat.

Whats done is done. In Australia they are going to play on pitches that will suit their batsmen and obviosly not Swann. England need to sort the middle order ASAP and Cook. and IMO should rest their key bowlers Anderson, Swann and maybe broad for the ODI's.

That's true as well. Im pretty England will not take things lightly but this is just I guess a wake up call.

So the first session washed out.
Australia might declare at 350.
Clarke is very unpredictable.

glorious weather up here.. barely a cloud in the sky and warm.. so much for the weather to clear by 11 on the radar.. I don't trust a weather forecast..

Looks like we may lose the day now.. How can the predict an indian summer and get the weather forecast wrong for a few hours in front.geeez

I have to add that last time we played on the "fast bouncy wickets of Australia" Cook made something like 760 not out in the series... I can see him trembling.

Addendum for conditions that didn't suit him Swann also took 15 wickets last time around - so I don't think he'll be "negated" exactly.
