spoken like a true gentlemen, well said.
England have produced two very different but equally talented young forwards. well said mate. england future look bright. josh, wilshere, dani, welbeck, henderson are all young but only time will tell if they can reach there full potencial.
Plus an England midfield that includes both Wilshire and McEachran and we might actually have half a decent team four years from now.
i wonder what a future England lineup could be:
Hart
Kelly Smalling Jones Jenkinson
A. Johnson Wilshere Henderson McEachran
Welbeck
Sturridge
Heck, why not just try all this lot now, and ditch the old guard.....it is not like players such as lampard, terry, ferdinand and gerrard (the so-called golden generation) have helped win us anything, is it?!
I notice there's no mention of Carroll
The guy who rate this well balanced article 1 is a girl
Carroll I view as being a good player. He'll never be world class though and certainly won't be a Shearer. £35m for him was the most unbelievable amount to pay! I remember seeing posts on different websites where Liverpool fans were outraged at the thought of £25m-£30m (all still active and links available). In any case both Sturridge and Welbeck have more potential. I do see Carroll being the reserve striker though, with Rooney partnering whichever of Sturridge or Welbeck would suit the opposition until Rooney is surpassed by the two. Either way Carroll with be a solid PL player, but never more than a 3rd/4th choice for England once his hype dies down and Welbeck and Sturridge push on. Even now, I'd have the Reliable Darren Bent over Carroll in the 11 if 2 strikers were playing
Problem with Carroll is that hoofball tactics is needed to use him. This means suicide when playing against strong international teams that play procession football.
Oh, and to clarify my opinion on Andy Carroll's TRUE financial value. Well, imagine a player named Andrès Cârole from Columbia or Portugal were to become available. Given his age, that he's had full international experience, proved he can be a danger in a strong league but never any flashes of genius or brilliance...
£14.5m-£16.5m
Anything higher and your looking for showings of real world class potential at least in my book.
But please don't make my three about Andy Carroll future posters
I agree, it is a very sensible article, not deserving of 1 but in a forum like this you will always get some lamebrain that won't appreciate, someone being articulate!
5 for me.
Carroll should have cost 7 million.
He's done NOTHING in his career to demand so scandalous fee.
When you consider City paid same for Aguero and fingers crossed we will get Sneijder for less than Carroll. (to be confirmed by Friday next week)
Shoot me if I'm wrong
very good article and i have given it 5 stars.
As for Andy Carrol being worth £35 million i would say he is worth about £10-15 million at most, he has had just over half a season in the PL where although he did quite well he hardly set the league on fire.
You presented your article well but it's still wrong really. How you can say Welbeck has a better footballing brain than Sturridge I don't know. Dont get me wrong, I like Welbeck, good attitude, but he reminds me of players like Gyan and Agbonlahor, all pace and hard work and closing down but tge technical ability, natural finishing and touch are way off. Comparing him to Berbatov is way off the mark. Sturridge is much more comp arable to Balotelli or Van Persie on the pitch, very all rounded game, powerful shot, can finish well and also dribble and create goals for himself out of nothing. At the U21's it was mostly Sturridge setting up Welbeck. Sorry to be a killjoy but the fact the article is nice does not mean someone should not challenge it!
Apparently Carroll only went to Liverpool because thats the only City where his hairdo is still fashionable
Viva Sturridge.
I have followed Welbecks career a lot. I know his pros and cons and if you truly believe what you say, I advise you to spend more time watching him play. He is considerably better than Sturridge technically and a more intellegent player. Please put your bias aside. I will say nothing more than that.
Good article OP. They both look to have very promising futures. As you say different players with different strengths. Hopefully they will get plenty of playing time this season back at their parent clubs and continue to progress.
If you're a Man U fan: Welbeck > Sturridge
If you're a Chelsea fan: Welbeck < Sturridge
If you're me: Welbeck == Sturridge
I don't see how you can accuse me of being biased when it's clear you haven't seen Sturridge play a lot showing by your comparisons to Owen to him. It's not bias, I just genuinely think Sturridge is the better player, just like I think Cole is better than Evra or that Rooney is better than Torres, the team they're playing for has little effect on my decision I'd like to think.... And although I may not see Welbeck as much as you, I'm still struggling to see how he's in any way like Berbatov. Berbatov relies on his touch, ball control and vision to score and create. I'm just saying from what I've seen from both and I think Sturridge is so much more technically adaptable and has so much more to his game.

Yes.
Given that Man U were second only to Barca in Europe and are the Champs of England, it would make sense that I mainly post on the Man U board for now
