Our finances are fantastic, so I'd like to see us push the boat out and really improve the side.

As it stands we're a weaker team from last season's Group Stage!

Agree that currently we are weaker dont agree that we need to spend big to fill the gaps left by hoops and vic.

We are definitely weaker, that's for sure.
Are there any decent strikers around that we could realistically afford?
it seems that you either dig up a prospect or splash around 15 million these days. Everything in between seems to be the kind of crap that fills the EPL and championship. The 10 goals a season type.

Seams they're trying to get a pacey lw in. I think this is good as with Forrest's injury record we could probably do with a player of that type. Desperately need at least 1 good striker for Europe as quite frankly I don't think Stokes is good enough and Sammy is better from the wing. My faith in them finding a striker good enough isn't high though given past signings!

We need to add quality, and I'm underwhelmed by our business thus far.

I also think we have possibly around £6m to bring 3 new players in. If transfer for the ajax winger goes through i think we will split the difference between another midfielder and a striker.

Oh yes. Completely forgot cm. If Kayal is to be Vic's replacement as Lennon keeps saying it is the clearest indication the club are doing their best to get things done on the cheap.

Just read on celticrumours twitter page that Boerigter is just under 2m euros.

Iv got hopes for the lad virgil i think he will be a good player for us. Balde will be a battering ram no more no less.

posted on 28/7/13

Although i did say the other day go get another pacey winger to match forrest and give the crosses to go and attack.

The side needs a bit of quality added to it..

a striker
A winger(preferably a left sided winger, which accoring to reports in Holland will happen tomorrow!!)
a left back for cover for Izzy
and a Nakamura,Lubo type player would be fantastic as well, hopefully we can find the right players and push on and improve from last season,i'm not worried yet,the next week or so will tell us a lot as for signings coming in.

and give Balde the crosses to attack*

We'll scrimp by unless we qualify for the Group Stages and then we'll rush to sign someone in the closing stages.

Not seen anything of Balde yet

If we sign this guy tomorrow it brings our summer spending up to £6m? That is a fair amount for scottish football these days.

With the outgoings though its what a third? Plus probably saved on wages with Rogne, Miku, Lassad, Hooper and Wanyama gone.

Still £12million up though, and we could still have the £20million European revenue.

From the one or two friendlies i seen him in he looks a decent target man. We have been screaming out for a second option the last few seasons lets not rubbish it without giving the guy a chance.

My heart agrees with what you guys are saying.
But can we really afford to spend more than 3 or 4 million in total ? Crowds are down, TV is a pittance so the only income is CL (not guaranteed) and player sales.
Where would we be with no CL for say 3 years ?

posted on 28/7/13

With the state of scottish football you have to build up cash to protect against the future. I never want to see celtic go through the problems rangers have had the last 2 years.

Chu, I think in Strachan's days, he used to spend around 7million a season on players so I'd be amazed if Lennon is allowed to top that - although I think he needs to.

Babette van Haaren ‏@BabettevHaaren 3m
Boerrigter's agent Sören Lerby has confirmed his transfer to Celtic. If he passes the medical he'll sign a three-year deal (via @ajax1nl)

that should be ok.

posted on 28/7/13

I think he has been given a flexible £10m which is all depending on the players available.

posted on 28/7/13

£1.6m the fee

posted on 28/7/13

Strachan never had big money coming in each season.

Our club supposedly budgets for not qualifying so why is eating into that £18million so dangerous?

All I'm saying is we should spend another £6million on top of what we have done already!
