I just think it's a retirement home.
"is just a retirement home for older players looking for an easy lifestyle and a lot of money."
And what is so wrong with that? Villa was a player who gave absolutely everything when he was at his peak. He doesn't really owe football anything. He deserves the money.

The Beckham revolution is a load of nonsense though agreed.

It's not about whether or not he deserves something, just that he could do so much better. He can go to New York anytime when he retires- he has basically retired as very few will care what he does whilst playing in such a poor league sadly.
Why do you never see good players at let's say the age of 24 looking to leave Europe for the MLS? It's because it's not challenging enough, it's a retirement home and whilst they all probably deserve it, I think they could all do so much better.
The MLS would be a better league if it wasn't so morally correct in its financial principles. Sadly in order to compete it would have to give in to the crazy finances the rest of the World uses!
Mls is getting better year after year...... Far better than the spl for instance
Well done on being a better league than a country with less than 2% of your population. Big pat on the back.
It is a joke league that just pays people who used to be big names to big up the branding, it has utterly failed to generate anywhere near the interest it was supposed to.

It's a sport that's what 4th biggest in the country?
Growing steadily year after year

MLS annoys me just because there's no relegation and they don't play in a normal league format
Mls is fighting against NBA,NHL,NFL and MLB + European football yet is still doing well and will only get bigger and better

Kent I like the format it's different
Toronto and LA not being able to play each other

How would you feel if at the end of your season all your players turned round and said they were leaving for better clubs just until the season started?
That's what happened- Beckham to PSG; Dempsey to Fulham; Keane to West Ham; Donovan to Everton. It always happens, it makes a mockery against the league.
But they're in different conferences?
