Would you take Bale for £85 million?

Yes I would

I'd be happy if we got Bale. The price is a little irrelevant in my opinion unless it means we can't sign a midfielder which is a more pressing issue

for that amount i am sure we can get barca to let Cese join us.
so i wont be happy

If we get him and a centre mid it would make up for missing out on fabregas thiago etc etc I dont think money is the issue I think ut will be whether spurs wantto sell him to a dfellow premiership club (or at all) and whether bale truly has his heart set on Madrid. I also wonder uf we are showing an interest to scare madrid. If they think they may lose out on bakw they may try and make a deal with us to a stop us going fir him ans b raise the capita l to buy bale outright. Players like mosric di maria an maybe even benzema as a swao for Rooney

Fellaini and Bale would signify a fantastic transfer window.

Why not, it doesn't affect my wallet and it would also make the tickets better value for money

It would also shut the morons like RGK up who say we can't buy anyone because we're "In terminal debt"

That's how I think Busby. Everything still costs the same whether we buy Bale or Cattermole.

From an outside point of view I'd say that as long as United can afford £85m and it wouldn't hamper them in terms of additional signings then getting Bale in would be a good move. You're definitely missing a player like him in midfield/attack.

It would alsi send a strong msg to city and chelsea and give moyes alot of confidence (not that he necessarily needs it) for the season. It would boost the squad aswell

he is not worth 85 million
but as it is not my money and "if" he goes on to become a success he offers a high roi.

mixed feelings, i some ways, i agree that it doesn't really affect the fans, even the match going fans. Pricing will keeping being squezed upwards, as much as pyshically possible.... So you may as well at least get something out of it.

On the other hand that, it is nearly 3 times our record transfer fee and would weigh heavy on both the player and the manager. If he failed to make a huge impact, it would be a stick to bash Moyes with, by the press and fans alike.

If, and it seems an unlikely if, Rooney leaves for, say, £40m.... Then adding another £45m to get Bale would be perfect business though, in my mind. It would be the marque signing we need to cushion the Rooney loss and would come with less pressure than just an outright £85m bid.

What do people think the chances of signing him are though. Has the story just been made up. Leaked by United? Leaked by spur s to Madrid to stump up the few up front?

btw - If rooney stayed and bale came, what the hell happens to Kagawa?

he will stay on the bench probably

no.

85 million on a one season wonder is way too much.

michael ricketts had a decent season once upon a time. . . luckily we didnt put a 20 million bid in for him based on that.

i'd use the money to at least temp real into letting Ronnie go.

No chance. He is not worth more than Ronaldo, never in a million years. I can guarantee he won;t have another season like that. Waste of money. £45 million tops

One season wonder

Michael Rickets

Dunc, you forget his CL exploits in 2010/2011 and how well he played in 11/12 in getting Spurs to around the top of the table before inexplicably he was put on the right wing in the second half of that season.

85 million on Bale would be a joke. I'd be expecting Messi-esque performances in every match and so will opposition fans. Anything less than a 9/10 performance will be pounced upon. And rightly so.

If we spend that much, it will give a message to Chelsea and City that we can compete with them financially. But it will also send out a message that we will be willing to pay double or treble the actualy value of a player when we already get charged 25%-50% extra already. Suddenly someone like Young would be costing us 40 million. Remember Young was instrumental to a mid-table side. Look at him now. Bale may be much better but he is less than half of what Ronaldo is.

It would make me sick, as we have paid over the odds to Tottenham twice already and this would take the biscuit. It would be like asking teams to shaft us. If this goes through, forget signing anyone good for reasonable money.

Robb,

he's shown flashes, but last season is the first season he has had where you look at him and think, yeah ok, he is up there with the best.

maybe two seasons of that and yeah, maybe, but not one.

Ronaldo went for 80 because of his marketability as well as his footballing abililty.

who the feck is seriously gonna want pictures of bales chimp like features on their walls, or any other merchandise with his ugly mug plastered on it.

posted on 12/8/13

okay, I have changed my mind 80 million for bale is silly and as much as I want and rate him only 2 players in the world are worth that kind of money so no to bale.

for 85 million we could sign reus who I feel is a better player, and gundogan/vidal who will instantly solve our midfield problems.

This right there shows why buying Bale for that amount would be a joke. If we are willing to pay that much for Bale, we surely could have signed Thiago and Lucas Moura.

Not if they didn't want to come to UTD.

It is so easy to think we can just throw money about and get any player we want. If that were the case, City would have already done it.

As a Spurs fan I think Bale is not worth that much but
85 million might not be enough for united to sign him.
If the reports are true that Madrid are willing to pay that
but we want 105 million then why would we want to sell to United at that price?
Insane I know
i won't be surprised if Spurs invented this rumour just to screw a bit more out of madrid.
