I don't know who you have signed but I'm sure they'll love reading those quotes, real motivational

I have a feeling it is difficult to attract the quality players needed to improve the team hence the reason we are not buying anyone of real quality.

He's not saying the players we've signed aren't quality, just that the team needs more quality... which it does. Or do you think we're good enough for top four?

posted on 12/8/13

Really starting to doubt we will get them before the window ends......jan more likely

posted on 12/8/13

Im not bothered when they come in, as long as whe they do come in they are quality.

I have a feeling we won't be getting much more now. I strongly believe that the young players coming through will be given the chance to step up.

I expect players like Ibe, Sterling, Teixiera, McLauglin, Yesil, Smith ect to feature this year.

Probably get alonso and cointreau....not bad

posted on 12/8/13

If we get something like Alderweireld, Siqueira and a left winger I'd be very happy indeed!

Cointreau

The trouble is that BR said the same thing last season, so its understandable that people are a bit sceptical.

I do think things are slightly different this season because we are more settled off the pitch, but if we don't sign anyone else, or only sign a left back, then there is zero chance of top 4 and it will just be last season all over again.

Thats the reality.

Talk is cheap and people want to see action.

It is difficult to attract players, but we simply have to.

ARE. I agree, up to a point. After all, what's the point in signing all these youngsters and having such an excellent youth system, if we don't at least try and integrate them into the first team squad?

I think a lot of fans like the idea of the youth set up, but don't actually have the patience to see it through.

Where I don't agree with you ARE, is that I think BR and the owners know you can't just rely on bringing through every player yourself, and will be trying to bring 1 or 2 established/highly rated players...

Righteous..disagree completely!!!!

Coutinho, sturridge, aspas, mignolet, alberto, ibe, toure; are you telling me that lot wont improve us this season.....surely you believe its better than spearing, shelvey, downing, carroll, reina (been getting worse).

Yes we are better than last year, but so are Spurs, considerably better. They have already spent £60m net already, all on top players. What have we spent overall? £-7m, that's right minus seven million.

We have improved but I'd actually go as far to say at the moment we have less chance of breaking into the top four than this point last year.

Obviously Arsenal haven't strengthened either yet but they will too.

But they don't have champions league and we all know (well we're told on here) you just can't sign a good player if your not in the champions league!

I know what you mean. I'm sure they are looking at opportunities but now if they can't get the player they want they will hold back. And that is only right. I tend to think we have already been though the players that we really wanted.

You never know though, there might be an ace up their sleeve though.

GB, don't repeat last seasons epic delusion FFS.

Our squad is better than last season, but its not better enough to compete for 4th with Arsenal and Spurs.

It just isn't, and you endlessly listing the players doesn't change that.

We need to sign at least two and possibly four more players to have a realistic chance.

As things stand, we won't put up much of a challenge for 4th place. We will be fighting Everton again for 6th.

I know people say scapegoats ect but I really think we need much much better than Enrique in left back and I'm saying it before a ball is kicked.. I also think we need better than Joe Allen as well don't see the point in a midfielder player that high up the pitch who doesn't create much or score much.. That's just an honest opinion and I am not blaming these two players but I would say they reek of average abilities hope we strengthen in these departments then we might stand a chance...

posted on 12/8/13

And just to back up my claims I don't think either player would even make the bench for Chelsea or Man City, Allen would probably be an unused sub for United only because they are so short in midfield and perhaps Enrique would make Spurs bench and both maby Arsenal bench at best.. If we want top 4 we need better...

The transfer window close is rapidly approaching and FSG have to deliver really. The majority of our fans have backed the owners to the hill.

Of course the signings need to be right but a similiar ending to that of last summer's fiasco would see the owners lose the faith of a large proportion of the fans.

I for one would be incensed if we saw a repeat.

Fair enough righteous, just out of interest....who are these fantastic players that spurs and arsenal have and we dont?

You call me deluded, yet for every wilshere and carzola we have an equivalent who is just as good.

I think we will deffo put up a challange for 4th it's just a shame that in reality all the Kenny signings set us back about 3 years!!! When we sold Torres and signed Suarez we could and should have done what we are doing now buyin value for money signings from Spain and maby other quality players from the German league it has been a very expensive learning lesson for the club that the British tallent is overpriced and under skilled!!!

posted on 12/8/13

Honestly, if for some miracle we would've got Mkhitaryan, and a top CB, I would've said we're challenging for 4th, but now we're still 2-3 players short of that.

I don't think a CB is on the cards, I'm really starting to think that Kolo was brought as 3rd choice but has trained and played his way into the first team. Think Skrtel and the kids will be used as back up.

LB as competition/replacement may well be signed and a goal scoring midfielder/wide forward if one of sufficient quality can be signed and that'll be it.

On the other side of the coin we tried to sign mkh and we tried to sign costa... So they have tried its difficult because our best player wants away and we have been pathetic in the league for half a decade!!! I wouldn't want them to just throw 20 million at anyone and have another downing..
