An observation..

I'm not expecting everyone to hold hands and sing coom by ya Tatter but you're again highlighting the unnecessary hostility that I'm trying to raise the point of.. I don't understand why you're getting so offended either, I was just passing on some observations and incite which you don't have to listen to. I just feel this repetitive bickering spoils the brilliant contribution that the posters bring to these threads. By all means argue and debate but leave out the moronic playground antics is all i'm saying

And all I am pointing out GR is that I am under no obligation to make this place enjoyable for you and neither is any other poster.

If you want it to suit your needs better then change it by contributing not by telling other people how to contribute.

Write a match report, give us your predictions for the season, write a reminiscence about your first Wolves game, do pretty much anything you want within the rules of the site but don’t just pop up, tell everyone else they’re doing it wrong and expect them to change.

As explained in my article, I have posted before but generally use the site to keep up to date with everything Wolves. I'm saddened that you've reacted so defensively as I haven't singled you or anyone else out and am just making suggestions.. suggestions that appear to be shared by many others on here.

I think that those protesting the loudest are those who know that they are guilty as charged.

Though Wolfie might still be asleep

I don’t know how you would like or expected me to react GR.

Your OP (to summarise) says that you don’t like how some people post, and that you would like them to change.
My point is I don’t post on here for your, or anyone else’s, benefit I post for my own entertainment.
If you would like the site to change then change it by contributing rather than telling others how they should contribute.

There are two categories of people who have agreed with the point of your thread.
Those in the same camp as you who would like the site to change but are doing nothing to change it themselves (my message to them is the same as my message to you) and those who do contribute, are part of the problem, but wanted to jump on your bandwagon as early as possible and trot out the usual “it’s not me it’s them” bull.
I don’t have much time for either of those camps.

A terribly unfashionable view I know but I'm going to stick my neck out and ask...is it all that bad anyway?

There are insults but it is nowhere near on every thread and when they appear are usually very mild, there are arguments but I'd rather have that than an empty board like most of the others. And yeah, there are cliques, but they are based down lines of thought and philosophies for the club, team etc. such as importance of immediate promotion vs. time spent in League One, experienced signings vs. use of our academy - it isn't based on personal dislike and these are VERY worthwhile debates to have.

There are also naturally distinctions between certain people because we're all different, for example, I believe in things as others do but I would never dismiss somebody else's view outright, because we're discussing opinions and who can ever say anything for sure? Equally, I PERSONALLY don't like to make firm claims if I don't have good evidence on them myself. I don't agree with face-rubbing, if you called something right then good for you...there is no need to mention it in every thread lol because it just drags up old arguments. Just as you or I or anybody on here would clash with at least one or two people out of a group of several hundred in a pub if we spoke to them all, it is pretty unnatural to expect everybody to like everybody else.

It does make me wonder though what exactly all these people complaining want from a Wolves forum if not to debate about Wolves?

I would actually suggest that it might just be more damaging to the forum and more off putting to outsiders when people keep writing articles about how terrible the cliques are, how vicious the insults are, how circuitious the arguments are.

Of course they're blo ody circuitious! But we're all still here, so is it really that bad?

Although I don't post as much as others surely my opinion still holds weight? I've followed these boards for about 3 years and have seen countless posters come and go so I feel I know what constitutes a good thread. Surely you agree that a lot of great threads become farcical and descend into the same old boring drivel that completely escapes the original post. Sadly I don't feel that me posting will make a difference to this problem although its a nice thought Tatter

Well try that first GR and then if it doesn’t work you may have a genuine grumble.

Start a thread.
If a poster takes it a direction you feel uncomfortable with ask them to stop. If they don’t stop delete their posts and filter them.
That way you’ll be contributing yourself rather than asking others to contribute for your benefit.

It is indeed a nice thought, give yourself a pat on your self righteous back Gold Rush.

Haha its a shame that you're mocking me for expressing general concerns.. as a lot of people seem to agree with me and I think its unfair to label them under one of two groups as Tatter has. If you're going to get a point across at least use wit instead of juvenile delinquence is all im saying if this makes me self righteous then so be it SLW.

I’m not mocking you in the slightest GR I’m explaining my point of view.

Take a look through the comments on here where people have supported your stance. Don’t they all fall into the two categories I’ve mentioned?

Very well put Gold Rush. I for one want to move on with a new manager and virtually a brand new team.

You're absolutely right in stating that we are all Wolves supporters, whether we live far away or right next door to the ground.

Dragging up statements from the distant past doesn't help either.

We all have different opinions on matters to do with Wolves and a healthy debate with some friendly banter should be encouraged.

Unfortunately there are a few that cannot let go of the past and to revert to insults just makes matters worst.

Gets my vote Gold Rush, exciting times ahead it seems, we should all be on the same page, the only stumbling block now seems to be that some still want to see Micks boys getting game time.
It will be better for everyone involved when they are cleared out to end the debate.

Guys it's simple, there are egos at play and relationships have grown some are good, some are bad and some are definitely ugly but they are all wolves (I think).

Good article to keep it focused as I mainly come on to read what is going on but find that 60% of the comments are just sparring blows and not of interest to me.

Good post GR and in agreement. I use this forum mostly to browse and check out what is going on. Rarely post as there is a little concern that if you agree with one guys opinion you will upset another. Should it be like that? Opinion and debate are fine and the beauty of these is that they create differing opinion, which makes interesting reading. But, and there is a big but......personal issues and vendettas get in the way of this, there are cliques on here and regardless of who says what, there is often a group that will band together and raise a personal attack whether they agree or not. Just because they can! Without getting too political, reminds me our our very own 'House of Commons', with the petty bickering and waving hankies, where no progress is made. I'll still continue to browse, laugh out loud at some of the humour and cringe at times at the depths some people sink to. As for throwing my opinion into the mix, and debating our great club, time will tell.

Come the revolution!

Agreed

I bet there are many of the old guard (previous 606/12 yards), like myself, who rarely contribute on here due to the constant playground squabbling.

It's a shame really, I have met and am still in contact with some good people from 606.

Whatever happened to real banter???

A lot of it seems to be aimed at Sunshine, and to be honest, I don't think it is deserved.

What I don't get is how a lot of people do seem to agree with you - and yet there is still an issue (as far as many of them are concerned).

Surely if all those people didn't get into squabbles and didn't dredge up the same stuff and write "tedious drivel" then the apparently tiny minority of us who don't agree/think it is an issue would have nobody to squabble with, nothing to dredge up and nobody to write tedious drivel to and the forum would be wonderful no?

It is in your hands majority!

Thanks Loyal, im quite proud of that I appreciate your views Tatter and agree that its the contributors who are the ones with the power so hopefully this article has just brought the issue to the front of everyone's minds in the future.

The game has now hit a lull, with the ball not doing a great deal and both teams playing it tight. Some of the crowd have dispersed to the bar, no doubt eagerly awaiting the middle order appearance of that great entertainer - Rabid Wolf.

Missing the cricket Herb? My 3-0 prediction is looking good, just need a bit of rain at the Oval.

posted on 14/8/13

My 0-5 prediction is not looking so good. Could do with Cook, Trott, KP getting big runs as England win by an innings - the Aussies must surely be confident of turning us over on their own turf this winter.

There hasn't been much to separate them, except each of our match-winners has turned up at just the right time.
