You're on the wrong message board mate! Common sense articles are swiftly deleted by the panini stickers brigade who believe success is signing players and not winning trophies!

A brilliantly concise, accurate and logical post. Can't argue with it.

Arsene has come out and said he is 100% sure we'll make a few decent signings.

Has Moyes said anything like this?

It's the FIFA brigade that worries me. I bought mata, messi and Ronny all on FIFA if i can do it why can Moyes! I won the World Cup with Northern Ireland as well!

Ys lets just keep waiting years for players who may never materialise... kind of whats happened with our centre mid issues of 5 years, because no world class players want to join us due (RVP being the exception) to Chelsea, Barca, Bayerns, City, Real Madrids being more attactive

This article's all well and good, but when that player is Fellaini, it's not going to bring us to the standard of Barca, Bayern etc.

The same Shelvey that's playing for Swansea... He isn't good enough, but If I couldn't find a player good enough to fulfill my aspirations then i wouldn't sign anybody but wait. Let me make it simple... Say jonjo is a lower prem league player and Liverpool wanted to be a top 6 team. They sign Adam a mid table prem league player. Even if Adam was an improvement I'd rather wait until i found a player who fit my aspirations.

Take united aspirations... Top team in Europe. Cleverly good premier league standard, we could sign a midfielder who is a v good premier league standard. But Moyes is trying sign someone who matches r aspirations! This for me is great!

Ok arsenal panic buy arteta

For every beckham we had a butt! At the minute we have plenty of butts! I for one support Moyes finding us a beckham!

OP

You are using far too much common sense for the majority of our young fans on here.

You should post more often by the way.

I agree that we should not make panic buys, the only problem is for me is we've needed a central midfielder and left winger for a long long time. I know that isn't Moyes' fault, I just feel we could and should have sorted these problem areas a while ago.

Fact is this, we have 3 recognised central midfielders in this squad. That is just not enough. I have said all summer that we need 2 more.

Getting a decent player in now, if only to improve our depth in midfield, is not going to stop us getting a proper improvement in Jan or the summer.

Bad arguments... lets say we lose out on the league title by 3 points. Ok we may not replace cleverly with a world class player, but we could replace him witha better one who could make a 3 point difference over a season.

You can't just wait around in football for the perfect peices to comes on the market, because it may just never happen...

Too busy building my career on FIFA and signing all the players. My scouting systems unbelievable!

Moyes is getting slated for buying Fellini and slated for bidding to low for sad Fellini! Mayb it was too low mayb Fellini was only going be a squad booster and mayb Moyes is only willing to pay 20 mil for squad player!

Genuine q would people on here be happy with no signings and sign say modric and Ronny next summer

................................

Three years ago, is when I said on the old 606 that Nev, Schole and Giggs should retire, for the sake of the team and the adverse effect it would have on our youngsters if they didn't.

Good article and I agree with the principle.

However, I do think (like bloodred) that we are low in the number of senior CMs. Just compare our options today with those of 2008. We are a minor injury crisis away from relying on children. I also struggle to believe that an FC of our fame and resources should struggle to recruit a top quality midfielder, having identified this as our priority. There are lots of excellent players out there and lots more who are on the verge of proving themselves to be excellent. If we haven't signed one of them by the time the window closes, it will be a failure - perhaps of planning, perhaps of managing the handover, perhaps of strategy over the summer. But our club should be able to gather the necessary intelligence and get deals done.

I like the gist of this article and actually agree with the concept of it as well, but attempting to buy Fellaini doesn't exactly back up your argument.

Not really, I am not a Modric fan, and Ronaldo is unlkiely to ever come back.

Patience is a virtue.
But as far as the midfield situation is concerned, it can not be delayed any longer.
We need someone capable of filling our needs
There is still time to shop before the deadline draws nearer.

Will Baines be enough for you regarding the left wing position?

I know he's not a winger but he is a left footed player who will almost play like a winger in that he will create plenty of chances from the left hand side.

We have 3 recognised senior central midfield players and 2 of them are injury prone.

Consider that in the last two seasons United have been knocked out of the CL in the group stages and last 16...to then possibly go into this season with technically a weaker squad than last season (no Scholes or no replacement for him, probably no Fletcher and a year older Giggs) is just ridiculous and very worrying. That is tantamount to standing still or even going backwards. I don't see any of the other so called European giants standing still or going backwards.

Worrying times.

Butt was an outstanding player and boy I would love him now! Beckham wasn't that good in the central midfield so a very strange comparison.

The thing is, we've got all these fans demanding we sign a central midfielder but I haven't heard one reasonable suggestion as to who that midfielder should be. If we sign Fellaini i'll be content in knowing that we're stronger for it but half the fans on this board scoff at the idea of signing him.

The dream of signing a world class midfielder is all well and good but it's absolutely pointless if there isn't one available. We tried and failed to sign Fabregas so who else is there? People keep naming the likes of Gundongan but it's cringe worthy how many times it has to be pointed out that he's simply not available.
