Constructive comment there Tommy.

My original point was simply that I'm not as excited as many others are about this game. It will, quite clearly, be a very good game.

But what exactly is it doing to be even considered for anything like "game of the generation" ?

I just don't buy into the hype that it's going to be massively different. I haven't played the new Saints Row yet, but they look like they have taken a different approach with an "alien invasion" rather just a mission based open world GTA sequel?

Can't decide which of these abysmal, nonsensical, hopefully wumming comments is worst.

Hardly wumming.
its clear you're a gta fan boy. I already mentioned that vice city and san Andreas were quality, GTA4 was garbage and took a step back from the one before it. I paid 45 quid for a game that was worse than something I played on a ps2.

So fan boy what will this game have that gta4 didn't.
will it be better than san andreas? If It isn't then its a failure in my eyes.

Greg spot on mate.

Didn't really enjoy 4 much at all.

I remember the anticipation for all these new features :

"Mobile phones to call your comrades to come and help you or pick you up"

What dross this was. Didn't need it at all.

"Internet cafe's which are vital for finding out information on missions, and emailing"

I think two missions used them, both utterly boring.

Same sort of thing for 5 now.

"Swap between multiple characters to complete missions"

This never works on any game. You just stick with your favourite character and only change if your on low health. There will be one or two token missions where you have to swap, but that's it.

Sorry Chris mate but your last comment tells me you have seen next to nothing about the new GTA - really there is so much stuff go read some previews, I think it may at least spark some interest as the player swapping is nothing like you suggest.

Lets hope this is a blend of San Andreas and GTA IV, the realism of GTA IV combined with the crazy over the top nature of San Andreas will be a thing to behold.

I usually follow ign, gamespot and euro gamer. Now dont get me wrong Chris i have often been on the end of over hyped games and yeh it is depressing. But on the other end this is Rockstar, and lets be honest the worst GTA is 4 and even that is better than 90% of the games out there - its only fault was to be after SA. Anyways i digress, you can see everything ign has here: http://www.ign.com/search?q=gta%205

One video i really liked is: http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/07/09/ign-rewind-theater-grand-theft-auto-v-gameplay-trailer

This shows that although you may have a fav character outside of missions during missions and through certain action you will be made to play one of the other characters.

And from what i have seen this game is basically the best of all the GTAs together.............heres hoping for the return of the monks so i can get back to running over their orange clad asses!

Yeah, and to be honest I'd so much rather not look forward to a game and it be amazing, than look forward to one, and it be sheeet.

Tomb Raider a good example of that. Bought it because I had vouchers, didn't expect much, was massively impressed.

I'll be buying GTA within a day or two of launch, and hopefully it will be better than I expect.

"and lets be honest the worst GTA is 4 and even that is better than 90% of the games out there -"

This I disagree with. Found GTA4 a chore to play, considering how highly anticipated it was.

After completing the campaign in GTA IV, there was very little to do single player wise, hope that aspect of the game has been worked on.

posted on 29/8/13

Found GTA's "campaign" fairly boring to be honest.

Go here. Do this. Kill these people. Race. Pick up this person.

Hopefully they'll be a bit more imaginative in this one.

Felt the same Chris, wasn't too many memorable missions.

'GTA4 was garbage'

GTA IV was not garbage.

'So fan boy what will this game have that gta4 didn't'

Not answering that. Have you seen any of the videos, screenshots, information in the last few months?

'After completing the campaign in GTA IV, there was very little to do single player wise'

There could have been more things to do but it still wasn't bad.

Agree with Chris

Gta4 felt like an updated gta3 and how old is that now?

they removed everything fun about vice city and san andreas and added pointless things like a mobile phone and the ability to go bowling with a friend, yippee!

GTA4 wasn't a step back, it was about 50 steps backwards from san andreas.

A sequel is meant to be equal or better than the one before it otherwise its a flop to me.

just like Sims 2, that was game awesome, played Sims 3 and they removed the fun things from the game and its just like WTF BRO?

one of the best things about SA was fully customisable character, hated how they got rid of that in GTA IV

Assassins's creed, now there's a shiiite game if ever I've seen one.

first was crap and repetitive.

second had a really good plot and main character, but again, got repetitive.

The batman games were excellent, Infamous games were very good, uncharted games are usually really fun.

aside from these or FIFA, I haven't really enjoyed many of the games I've played.

I do have to purchase some though, I'm looking into God of War, Last of Us, and Tomb Raider.

Tu Meke, my brother.

Tomb Raider surprisingly excellent. Very different from the dire previous 3 or 4 churned out.

Last of us is superb, but I wouldn't play it straight after or before Tomb Raider as it's actually a little similar.

Cheers Chris

My favourite tomb raider was "the last revelation" on ps1. is it much like that?

Tomb raider is brilliant.
I'm just over half way through and so far I'd give it 10/10.
can't really fault it tbh

GTA IV sucked homie. The fun factor was completely taken out of it. with GTA III, VC and San Andreas - the wrwiting was very ironic and sarcastic, and really captured the satire of American culture. In IV it became a really lame action/drama with some really annoying friends. The wit was nowhere near what the other games had, which is what made the older GTAs so damn awesome
