Blame the Glazers.

Dry your eyes, you do sound like a spoilt brat

How long have you been supporting Utd for 10yrs, 20yrs? There was a time when I used to wet my pants about an FA cup win, we might have to have a season or 2 without and trophies restructuring the squad to suit the manager, will you have a hissy fit and go and support someone else?

Genuine question

Ozil would have only been a replacement if Rooney or Kagawa left and neither did, move on.

I tend to agree with this.

Many were arguing that letting Rooney go to Chelsea would be a massive blunder, as it strengthens a rival. This logic can be applied to Ozil. Supposedly he was keen to come to United. In that respect he was potentially ours. In declining that opportunity we are making ourselves weaker than we might have been while allowing a rival to grow much stronger.

Actually, my feeling is that insisting on keeping Rooney is the factor that has prevented us from moving for Ozil. We have too much salary currently tied up in that number 10 position.

Agreed Russian. If there's one thing i'll moan about it is the lack of ambition in risking selling Rooney and bringing in Mata or Ozil.

Problem with that is we didn't, spilt milk etc etc

We are spending way too long second guessing ourselfs and the board and the manager.

Didn't happen, get behind the players we do have and support them

My stance on Rooney is starting to change to be honest, part of me thinks maybe you should have let him go, I'm not convinced the dressing room is harmonious at the moment.

Apparently, you were offered Ozil a few weeks ago but turned him down. I'll be happy if he does sign for Arsenal just to see him in the Premier League, always loved him as a player. I don't actually think it is who Arsenal desperately need either, they need to do more business before they would be genuine title contenders.

I am well aware of United history and I support us through whatever circumstances; what irks me is when we do nothing when we very feasibly could do something. Your argument about just supporting and moving on is just blind because that goes without saying. If we bloody spent 50million on emile heskey would you still be so content? No. Yes it's a dramatic example but it follows your line of reasoning.

Yesterdays game was screaming for Roo in my opinion Melts

I'd rather we keep Roo than sell him to Chelsea and buy Ozil

A motivated Rooney is a better player for Utd than any of the others, not saying he is a better player, just all in all better for Utd (when motivated)

Agree on the Gooners, ozil plays in the wrong area of the pitch to improve them greatly, a DC and striker is what Wenger wanted

We should have sold Rooney the fat ungrateful oaf... Ozil would have been on half the wage, and is a better player.

I posed that question today. i.e would people rather Ozil go to PSG or Arsenal?
I'd be happy to see him every week in the PL so i'm glad he chose Arsenal over PSG.

Agree macca, you really missed him against Liverpool. When he doesn't play, you are more reliant on your wingers than usual and if they aren't firing (which they certainly weren't in that game), then RVP is just far too isolated up front.

It was just the way Ferdinand spoke about his injury before the game, sounded like something was up. You haven't heard anything have you macca?

Piffle (great name, by the way),

I agree, defender and striker massively needed for them. To be honest, they just don't have the depth if they get injuries, they need four or five new ones in for me.

Find me, no your Heskey example is streching the bounds or realism mate

I understand what you are saying but none of us are employed at Utd or any other EPL club so all we can do is surmise

What I am saying is it has gone, rightly or wrongly on Utd's part and we all need to wipe our mouths.

Some of the postes are staring to sound like the Gooner youth on here FFS! "bleat, whinge, cry"

I would always want the best players to play in the PL Robb regardless who they play for, just so I get the oppportunity to see them up close. That's just me though, I get that some want their rivals to be weaker, I just have always preferred every team to be as strong as possible.

Not sure why people are saying we missed Rooney against Liverpool. He generally plays crap when we play them

I'm a football supporter more than I am a United supporter if that makes sense plus as you know I bet a lot and if the top teams have top players it makes them better to back.

Arsenal with Ozil are more likely to beat, say Sunderland than Arsenal without Ozil and that makes my accas more attractive

I do get you piffle (indeed a great name by the way) but it still won't stop me from visiting the local watering hole tonight! A pint or 8 will hopefully help with the moving on process.

"A motivated Rooney is a better player for Utd than any of the others"

And what will be his motivation? I was pleased with the effort he showed last week but I'm still very sceptical as to whether he will keep that up all season. Plus the fact as an attacking threat he offered very little the other day, his combination play with RVP was worryingly virtually non existent.

Does anyone believe the rumour that Jones walloped Rooney in training this weekend?

Ozil to United and Rooney to Chelsea would be at least neutral and probably a net gain for us, in my view.

United get rid of a big uncertainty, a potential source of discontent, and that tactical conundrum whereby we have to play two in midfield in order to accommodate him. We get a better number 10, giving our strikers and wide forwards better service. Chelsea get Rooney, who may tear up trees for them, but then again may fall prey to the fallibility that saw him rightly dropped last season.

As it is, we still own that uncertainty, Chelsea have Eto'o (who could turn out to be something close to the superb centre forward he was before he disappeared into the Russian black hole) and Arsenal apparently have Ozil.

I've been on the fence about what to do with Rooney all summer. I think we'll only know what the best policy would have been in hindsight. However, missing out on Ozil tips it for me.
