stop getting wound up

Ashley Williams is a rubbish defender, not good enough to stop Coutinho legally so decides to break him instead.

He'd been a complete all game anyway so it was hardly surprising.

Hopefully this might give Luis Alberto a chance against Southampton, very similar player. Alternatively you can play Aspas/Sterling of course.

Fortunately we have good depth, when Suarez gets back for the Manc game then it'll be a lot better.

Going to miss him though, probably one of our most important players.

Which comment is this then?

Never nice, any player getting injured.

This feels like karma to me though. Dives like he'd been shot, rather than the almost zero contact he'd actually received, and gets injured doing it.

it was more Ignoring the joke hoping you would let it die as its really poor and doesn't make much sense. It's the same as me translating everything you write into spanish underneath then asking you why you keep speaking spanish.

So, Chris, for arguments sake, if a car is coming at you, do you jump out the way, or do you take the hit like a man?

It's natural human nature to try to get out the way of danger, and if you get injured doing it, so be it.

The issue most of us, I think, have here is that you can see Williams draw his foot back, then kick out a second time when he sees Coutinho is gonna avoid him.

it wasn't a car coming towards him, he was going towards a foot.

He didn't try to get out the way, jumping into something is not trying to get out the way.

The jab wasn't particularly nasty or malicious from Williams. It's the dive which has injured Coutinho and before the jab came in he was already already up in the air.

Have a bit of decency and call it for what it is. The reaction of Liverpool fans on this article is embarrassing. But hardly surprising after all the excuses you guys trotted out for Suarez. Young dives on the weekend and United fans up and down the country are calling for his head. You can't buy class like that.

Igor,

No I get that part. Don't blame any player for moving to avoid an injury/impact.

But why the movement that he does in the torso? To me, it looks like he is trying to con the ref into thinking he took a bigger impact that he did.

I think the natural response to the movement of William's leg, would to to turn to the side.

posted on 18/9/13

This sums up the hypocrisy of some football fans well, in my opinion.

We can't be sure whether Coutinho was diving or whether it was a natural movement, but we can be absolutely sure that Williams was intentionally kicking out at Coutinho?

Come on.

We can't be sure of either, and the slo-mo replay only confuses the issue, in my opinion.

Coutinho jumped into the air, if he had have stayed on his feet he would not have hurt himself, He was stupid hes too small to go chucking himself about

posted on 18/9/13

Digby, I think the natural "flinch" response, or even the sensible calculated way to avoid being hit in the crown jewels, would be to turn your whole body to the side. That's human nature.

What certainly isn't, is to throw yourself into the air.

================================================
Yes, but Young dived, and the TV pundits all called it.
None of the pundits called it in this case, because it clearly wasn't a dive.

We could play the standard tedious game, though, where you post links of Liverpool players diving, and I post links of Arsenal players diving, and cite Arsenal’s reputation for practically having invented it, and we both include links where the players aren’t diving at all, but end up on the floor.

All for the purposes of providing conclusive internet proof that Arsenal fans are 'classy'. ( "Spend some fackin' manny".

But it’s all been done a million times before.

It's absurd to call it a dive. It's obvious some people are doing so to wum.

Coutinho was running as full speed and got kicked while trying to avoid Williams who deliberately put his leg out to foul Coutinho.

Chris thats the point i've been making, If someones foot is heading towards my knackers jumping into it is the last thing i'd do

posted on 18/9/13

not at all to wum, he is off the floor before williams touches him, yeah williams up his leg out to stop countinho, every team does it to stop good players, coutinho just made the wrong decision by jumping into him

I don't think it's absurd.

I happen to agree with you, that it wasn't really a dive, but I can understand why some people would disagree.

You fool, how did he jump into it? Maybe he should have defied the laws of physics and avoided Williams foot while at high speed

Can't wait for one of your players to get injured and I'd have no sympathy for you let..

posted on 18/9/13

Haha

It's a blatant dive. Like Digby says, Coutinho's feet are off the ground before he's touched by Williams. Catch a grip of yourselves.
