Dive??? Seriously a dive?

posted on 18/9/13

not a dive, he jumped into it to make it look worse, would have been a foul if he stayed on his feet

At worst, yes Kneerash. He jumps before there is any contact whatsoever. It is the same thing people were quick to criticise Bale for last season.

I reckon the whole incident took about 0.23 seconds and it was just a coming together.

posted on 18/9/13

most people believe he has dived, or at the very least exaggerated the contact...
===================================
There was no exaggeration there. He didn't start rolling around as if he's been shot or held his balls (where he got kicked) even though he damaged his shoulder.

Coutinho landed badly after trying to avoid cynical challenge by Williams after he'd gone past him.

Like I say though, I think it's more a case of trying to exaggerate contact and try to con a card for Williams. Either way, I don't think it is Williams' fault Cout was injured.

He had time to make a starfish shape in the air... In fact, it's a pretty similar body shape to that of Young & Gerrard when they're trying to con the ref...

(that's how he usually plays - jumps over outstretched legs while dribbling).

but williams didn't have an outstretched head it was at chest height, is coutinho an idiot?
==================================
Who said anything about outstretched head?
Coutinho skips/jumps past defenders while dribbling and was trying to do the same when Williams fouled him. Williams outstretched leg was soo high, he could jump over/ get out the way.

but why would you try to jump at something thats the height of your chest?

Give up Digby, no reasoning with this lot I think.

You're classless mate. Go and search for the meaning of exaggeration

There was no exaggeration after the contact. There's nothing Coutinho did wrong there. Before the contact he was trying to avoid the contact rather than run into it like A.Young.

Height of chest?
Williams leg was heading towards his balls and he tried to avoid it.

I value your opinion highly. At the end of the day, we believe what we want to believe. Liverpool fans believe he's completely innocent and Williams' is a príck.

Everyone else, doesn't. What I will say though, is consider the reaction from United fans with regards to Young's dives, and Welbeck's (frankly terrible) effort, and compare that with the attempted justification of dives & exaggerated contact that we see time and time again when it comes to Suarez, Gerrard (seemingly to a lesser extent now) and now, Countinho.

Speak for yourself mate
I was watching the match with an Arsenal fan and he rightly called Williams a for that foul.

Jay - The eyes are open, the mouth moves, but Mr Brain has long since departed. (U16498)

You seem like you think you're a bright lad so I'm just wondering how you can take, what, 5 peoples opinion and then graft that into a demographic spanning millions?

Seems a bit of a stretch to me. Just saying. You've not even taken my opinion into account for example.

Ok, slight exaggeration, but the only people defending Coutinho on this article, are Liverpool fans. You'd have expected other people to be defending him too, if he was obviously innocent?

I'll rephrase it slightly then...

People on this article who aren't Liverpool fans, think Coutinho's injury was a result of him exaggerating a jump, and fall, rather than because of Williams' challenge.

And it would've been insane if any United fan tried to defend a blatant dive by Young. Even Stevie Wonder would tell you it was a dive.

To even compare it to Coutinho attempt to avoid a tackle is laughable. Crawl back to where ever you come from

Your comments here is laughable.
