This is quite possibly the most ridiculous statement I've seen on here in a while. Yes "Clever", "dross" such as Torres, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Reina, Alonso, Lucas, Agger were bought to the club. Yes he bought a few duds but certainly the quality that be brought through is still evident at the club to a lesser extent even today

No one should doubt Benitez's ability as a manager.

Look at his record. But for some unfortunate turn of events he would have secured us the title.

Please, people dont like mourinho cause of his games in the press to take the spotlight onto him and let the players get on with playing. Benitez was in a position where if he bought a player that wasn't good it was highlighted pretty quickly

Mourinho/Chelsea bought other top clubs targets (ala willian recently) and then they rotted on the bench until off loaded. City started to do the same

That's a pretty sweeping statement there.

Remember, he won 2 titles in a league where Barca and Real nearly always win it. Imagine if someone managed Everton or Villa to the title in England. It was a brilliant job from him to do that.
