If a player is booked for diving he should get fined a weeks wages, that's my view

Once they lose a weeks wages you watch the simulation stop

Good idea.

I have given up trying to work out the FA’s disciplinary procedures. They jump about from one ruling to the next, and the justifications they give for their rulings don’t make any sense whatsoever, and often contradict each other.

Trying to work out who’s going to get done, what they’re going to get done for, and the length of the sentence basically just amounts to a roll of the dice.

I had started to think that the length of the sentence depended on how much the Press liked or disliked the player, but I’m not even sure that’s consistently applied.

I had also reached the conclusion that if a player irritates you on the pitch, and you wish to get to him in exchange for the minimum punishment, your best course of action would be to chin him, and I still think this will get you a relatively low sentence.

But Torres has come up with a new one. Pressing the tip of somebody’s nose with your thunb in order to push it back against the face will get you a serious working over in any pub in the land, but on a football pitch, it’s just playful banter.

I seem to be double posting, apologies for that, getting used to posting on a smartphone.

The chelsea fans on this article seem to be trying to muddy the waters by bringing up our own players. To me that says they don't really have an argument here and if the roles were reversed they'd agree with what the rest of the footballing world thinks of this decision.

I was away at the weekend and only saw the "scratch" footage today, it's hilarious and so girly, both of the players should be embarrassed.

The FA are all over the shop but a ban for this "scratch"? Na this is getting out of hand, all designed by the press to sensationalize these incidents, just look how much coverage this has got it's ridiculous.

The scratch was to get a reaction from Vertonghen, happens all the time. Torres is a silly boy, he's lucky he's got no prior

Absolutely. Nowadays every little thing in football (and world in general) is sensationalised to the max. Overblown, exaggerated and inflated to ridiculous proportions.

The question remains though.

£50,000,000. For that poof?

Makes you wonder what the verdict would have been if it had been Suarez.

The FA has set a new precedent here though...you can apparently get away with putting your hand in the face of another player as long as the officials only partly see it. Can't wait to see how this one pans out for them

It is obvious that Abramovich has the FA in his hands. FFS what does a player actually have to do to get a ban, bite a players head of.

The FA have once again shown themselves to be in the pocket of certain clubs.

About time

You're right. The thing is when sky repeatedly show slow motion replays of the incident and still images. it inflames the situation quite a lot. Not condoning what Torres did though but sky the media thats what they want. Faux outrage. And fans jump on it whether it's spurs fans Chelsea fans or utd fans. The media weren't interested in the two halves of football or how both managers tactics differed. Theyd got their story with the Torres and made sure replays were shown. Just like the evra Suarez handshake incident. Theyd rather inflame that to ridiculous proportions and reschedule ad breaks just so they can show that. They're only out to focus on petty things like this.

David Luiz laughing after he cheated to get Rafael sent off.

------------------------------

Let's be fair here, Luiz hardly got Rafael sent off. Rafael lashed out at him in frustration which would be a red card in every case. The smile was out of order but it hardly was the cause of the red card.

That is a good point from Mr C.

Its a shame that this was an exciting game from both sides with two managers who had got tactics wrong at some point in the game. With some good and bad individual performances.

Ever since we have been talking about some Spanish pansy doing something girly (that should have sent him off) to a professional athlete who thus isnt a soft little sheit and can take a little bit of damage like that.

Ignoring, Dembele/Paulinhos performance, how Ramires playing in midfield turned the game around and the impact of Mata coming on.

Vertonghen dived, pushed Torres and then feigned injury; which resulted in Torres getting sent off. Spurs fans ignore all of that and concentrate on nothing more than a strong caress to the face.

I could gather that Mr C, as mine didnt have a joke in it.
