"All you're doing is making bullets for the likes of Tatter and Butey to fire and of course they step up to the plate like lambs to the slaughter."

Ah, the old "one who makes bullets and steps up to to the plate like a lamb to the slaughter". Someone call the UN, this metaphor's been tortured!

Not sure why you want to drag up the past, as we are now moving forward with a manager who seems to know what he's doing.

This is the best bit of "moving forward" that we've done since we had Mick - albeit in a higher division.

Wolfgang kicks the hornets nest, and sits back with his toast, marmalade and pot of English breakfast tea, while the drama unfolds before his fingertips

What Uncle refers to as a 'hit and wum'.........most enjoyable !!!! Should imagine Cinci will be around soon...stay tuned...........

Wolfgang takes off his rose-coloured specs and moves forward, stepping up to the plate like a lamb to the slaughter, to make my bullets, and for that, like 95% of posters, I'll be eternally grateful.

When McCarthy left, Perton, we were not in League One we were level on points with the team 16th in the Premier League. So McCarthy can definitely be blamed for taking us to that position.

Taking us from there to League One is an honour we must bestow on Connor, Solbakken and Saunders and on Morgan and Moxey for appointing those three clowns.

Ummmmm, didn't the micks dross accusations rise in the prem?
Aren't these guys doing well in the champo?
Which is their level?

Which is what most smart fans realised years ago, sadly our manager didnt, so we ended up being relegated back to that level

GB wrote a very interesting comment about all this the other day, I shall post it for you in a bit, he explains common sense better than me

They're all in either the "Champo" or the Prem, Cinci, (apart from those that aren't).

Who is in the prem brute.
Jarvis and fletcher play, stoke want shot of kightly.

Have I missed any?

Hardly a glowing endorsement.

Either way, Burnley won't be sticking around at the top.

Not sure why there is all this excitement about whether or not we were good enough for the Premier League. We were certainly good enough to stay there 3 years and I can produce proof of that if required. If we were as short of what was needed as some on here are saying I am not sure why we weren't 20 points adrift in our first season there.

But that is almost irrelevant. because even if we weren't good enough for the Premier League it is quite remarkable that Solbakken and Saunders, with a group of players that seem to be doing fine in the Championship now, managed to take us to the depths of that division. And that despite the former having an almost unprecedented amount in the Championship to spend on players of his own choice

I was thinking of Jarvis and Fletcher, who I think you'll find are "in the Prem".

Did you know mick only started fletcher in about 55% of matches during his time with us?

We stayed there two seasons, we tumbled out in the third season.

vokes was bought from div 3 to be a prospect in the championship. like a few of mick's signings, the team move up the league quicker than they could establish themselves or develop. it is hard to tell whether more permanent championship players will make it in the premier league (SEB and dorrans looked like world beaters at div 2 level but both struggled to become regulars in the prem) let alone unknown kids.

the problem we had was that we kept far too many good championship players and prospects for far too long once we were in the premier league. and players who might have had the ability to become decent prem players didn't get the chance to find out.

how many of that squad (who ever really played for us) are currently getting regular premier league football? 2 i think. jarvis (who is not a first choice starter every week) and fletcher, who we bought having already shown he could play and score in the top league.

and how many wolves discards are up there? 2 i can think of in elliot bennett and guedioura, not sure if there are many others. when you think we probably had over 40 players in the prem years it is a pretty poor ratio.

We did - should never have sacked that McCarthy should we

DJ you full well know where we were heading under mccarthy and the 5-1 drubbing proved it, no wolves manager should keep his job after a result like that and clipboard was one of the reasons we were in that position so giving him the job was a joke. There is no doubt about it if he had stayed to the end of the season we would have still been relegated.Oh and dj we werent 16th we were 18th in the relegation places.

Thats not the argument here is it?

I think just about everyone on the planet agrees we shouldnt have ditched him to replace him with part of the original problem.

Should have gone in December when it was clear he had lost the players.

posted on 6/10/13

Good point, DJ. I'm sure Cinci recognises that the sacking of Mick will have played a huge part in the club's subsequent relegation a few months later.

Hmmmm, no he wouldn't Bute, as has been pointed out in GBs very wise post, Micks failing was improving on a championship side and sadly that caught up with us.

Is it a wise post in it's own right or that it agrees with your view, Cinci?

You'll be saying that perton has some wise posts soon.

posted on 6/10/13

Oh and dj we werent 16th we were 18th in the relegation places.

Here is what I actually said Perton;

When McCarthy left, Perton, we were not in League One we were level on points with the team 16th in the Premier League

Do you think I am incorrect with that? And as your league table shows we were 2 points above Wigan who did not go down. So as McCarthy always produced improvement at the end of the seasons, no reason why we should not have stayed up again.

And cinci you keep repeating your views on why we weren't good enough for the Premier League. Why do you think we were not good enough for the Championship given most of the players are still doing ok at that level now and Solbakken was allowed to bring in £13m worth of his idea of European talent?
