Just getting back to this and I see that people are actually putting scholes ahead of keane. They must not be watching utd very long. Keane is arguably the best midfielder to have played in the premiership. Fertile bought veron and it wasn't to replace keane in the middle.

dont use the same logic as Jamie Carragher, it wont paint you in a good light, listen to EVERY united player who played through the late 90's and 00's they all say Paul Scholes is the best player they ever played with

Fertile!

You make it sound like our former manager liked to put it about. He's not Arsene Wenger or Brendan Rodgers!

Wouldn't listen to carragher. These are probably the same players that he criticised. Scholes has often said keane was the best player he ever played with

My Robson/Keane midfield would be unstoppable.

not as unstoppable as my robson/scholes midfield

Robson was the master B2B midfielder when that was football was about. Keano was very good too. No where near Robbo's standard. Incey was as good as Keano on his day

Yeah, Ince was excellent and is very underrated on here. I just think not that many people saw him due to age. The 93/94 season was my favourite ever and Sharpe was my favourite player.

Loved Sharpe too... did he really get Meningitis or were all the rumours true ?!

Aye, the team from 92-95 was my favourite United team, loved the dynamic and the chemistry between them, they played some excellent football and if anyone wanted to "mix it" Wimbledon etc then they'd stand up to that as well.

They came so close to winning the domestic treble in 93/94,that was my first real heartache as a young United supporter. Villa completely outplayed us and Bosnich had a stormer

Really dont understand the animosity toard keane from some of the fans. He was loved when he was leading on the pitch, geeing up players, bollicking them out of it when they facked up, that night in turin, his battles with his opponents on the pitch, the tunnel confrontation with viera. What you saw was what you got with keane he was brutally honest when he was playing prawn sandwich et al and he was loved for it. Hes continued it on since he left utd and now people dont like it.

I remember that. Ron Atkinson as the opposition manager and he said afterwards that they beat United because they attacked United. I was amazed for years afterwards why not that many teams actually tried to attack us.
It was just the odd team like Coventry or Derby etc and they got the odd random wins.

It was a bizarre comment from Keane last night.

He will always be my favourite player of the 90's, but it's a shame that this war of words is continuing.

Probably just a pop back at SAF rather than a well thought out retort.

Have to laugh a Roy's criticism of SAFs book criticising ex players. Roy wrote one slamming players he was currently playing with, a hypocrit of the highest order.

On Rio Ferdinand and under-performing United team-mates...'Just because you are paid £120,000-a-week and play well for 20 minutes against Tottenham, you think you are a superstar.

'The younger players have been let down by some of the experienced players. They are just not leading. There is a shortage of characters in this team.

'It seems to be in this club that you have to play badly to be rewarded. Maybe that's what I should do when I come back. Play badly.'

----------------------------------------------------------------

Just one of afew but can you imagine this sort of mentality in our dressing room right now, we would be even more of a mess!

nobody had a problem with his mentality when he was at his peak.Keane didnt turn into an outspoken character on the pitch or in the dressing room when he made those comments.

It was keans ultimate downfall though - becoming so threatening and itimidating that SAF ended up getting rid of him. As i said, as a player you couldnt fault gim - as a man he is horrible and also an ex player that seemingly had an axe to grind with the club shown through his comments. I mean we fans paid 60/70 quid a ticket and he slated us too!!!

If he cant take the criticism levelled at him then dont give it!
