Same ole England

This is typical from most England fans.

We play our veterans, and the criticism is we don't have enough youth coming through.

We play several inexperienced/young players (Forster, Lallana, Rodriguez, Barkley, Townsend, Henderson, Cleverly) and the fans still complain when we lose.

If we aren't organised defensively, then we always seem to be very vulnerable to quick and clever counter-attacks.

We had the same problem against Poland.

The best sides will be rubbing their hands together if we're as loose defensively as we were tonight.

I;m not complaining, we had the chance to experiment and give some new faces a chance to experience what it's like

different game/experience

best to use this meaningless match to get it out of the way

the great Chile rivalry is unaffected

simo, while that it's true. I'm not sure whether you're grouping myself and TRS into that as I can assure you that us critiquing the team is not complaining.

TRS, yes I do agree we aren't the most organised defensively but I do think we are also lacking the quality.

Our back four is not to the standards that it should be. Say what you like about England's talent, we've generally always had very good defenders.

This is the best that England can offer? Come on Woy, stop picking them out of a hat!

Very true Darren.

At the moment, you would hope Smalling and Jones get regular game-time for United and carry that onto the International stage because they IMO are our best hope for a really good future partnership.

Right back is perhaps a little more difficult to predict but providing everything goes well, we could have a back four containing Smalling, Jones and Luke Shaw at the next major tournament after Rio.

I can't see our first choice centre-back pairing this coming summer being anything other than Cahill and Jagielka unless Smalling and Jones get regular playing time at club level and play their way into contention but then if one of them does, whoever that is won't have had any time really to develop an understanding with Jagielka or Cahill.

And I think as was shown tonight, Ashley Cole is still our best left back defensively.

We need to start trusting some of the youngsters such as shaw, Morrison and Barkley. For me they are as good if not better than what we have now and they can only get better with international experience

Tonight highlighted exactly why Cole is number 1 choice as left back. A fantastic defender. Baines is a very good club player and that's it and it looks very likely he will be in the red shirt come January too. Back page of the Mirror states £16 million.
Personally it's short term if that's the case and I would rather of us gone for a younger LB.

England were outplayed, but remember it's the first time these players have played together. Also they were missing their best performer and captain.

I've always said Welbeck is vital to the way England play as he uses his strength and speed to help England keep possession. He was badly missed as well.

Don't know why Roy started Milner when he had 2 CM players who have started several matches for their club.

===============================
They're way too young and should rightly be in u21. It's only in England you'd see the likes of Sterling, Zaha, etc getting picked for first team when they should be nowhere near it.

Another thing is that Chile are actually a very good team. Had their new manager been brought in at the start of the qualifying campaign there's a good chance they would have been sitting top of the qualifying group in South America.

honest

I thought it was a very strange decision to start Milner and Lampard, not just because I don't think they're good enough but also because we know more than enough about the two of them.

Tonight was the night to throw in Barkley, Cleverley or Henderson.

And I don't need much persuasion on the uses of Danny Welbeck either. You'll find that I'm one of his greatest admirers on this site so I agree with you there.

Darren

And considering they were without Vidal, it's all the more impressive.

The way they worked the ball from back to front at times tonight was very impressive. Big fan of their high intensity style of play. They don't seem to have changed a lot from their time under Bielsa.

posted on 16/11/13

Was reading that the new manager is very much a 'student of Bielsa' or so to speak.

They were playing really poor with the last manager as he wasn't as attacking, apparently, and their attacking players were being stifled.

The new manager has got them playing like they were under Bielsa and they're flourishing as a result.

Bielsa's quite an influential man to say the least.

Quite surprising he's not managing anyone.

A fellow World Cup-bound side outplayed us in every aspect of the game
**

that is because Chile are better than England at football. There are a few more world cup bound teams that are also better than us and will do the same to us if we have to play them.

No surprise or anything to worry about here. Dont over estimate how good England are or should be.

"No offence melts but aside from Rooney, we didn't press chit"

That's exactly my point Macca. All that ends up happening is a disjointed defence without the ball.

........
Nonsense....it is a friendly therefore why not give them some experience against a decent international side. They are just as good as what we had out there last night and still only very young. I agree don't play the likes of zaha, sterling however I do believe Barkley, Morrison and shaw are good enough
