Should Lara move down to welterweight?

He doesnt have a fanbase which is why Floyd wouldnt want to fight him. I can see Canelo facing him in future. I dont believe he can make 147 he would be drained. If he could he would have done it by now as 147 is the most lucrative division.

RGK, I wanna see Floyd fight the best fighters, not bums who have big fanbases because of their nationality. I don't care how much money Floyd or any other fighter makes from a fight, other boxing fans shouldn't either. We should get to see the best match-ups, these guys make millions regardless of who they fight.

Do you think he would be drained for 147? I'm not sure. Maybe he could be eased down with a couple of catchweight fights? Either way, nobody other Floyd gives him a good fight at 154, he needs better options and he's too small to move up to 160 for sure

And I don't think GBP or Canelo himself wants the Lara fight, his reputation will take another big hit when he gets complete outclassed.

It looks like Canelo vs Angulo or Molina for March. Angulo would be a tough comeback fight for the Mexican Berto

I wouldn't be surprised if Angulo caused an upset in that one

No would pay to see Lara vs Mayweather though it would be a stinker with Lara getting beat at his own game. Mayweather only wants the biggest money fights and boxing writers are not calling for it either so there would be no pressure on it to happen. I think Canelo Lara will eventually happen as Canelo doesnt have a lot of options at 154.

I think he would be seriously drained and his ability to take a punch and mobility around the ring will be effected. He would have done it by now if he could.

Think it will be Molina from what I read on twitter. Confidence builder and maybe Cotto later on the year.

Lots of people want Lara vs Mayweather RGK, along with GGG, Pacquaio and Martinez, Lara is the hardest option for Floyd. I wouldn't bet against Lara beating Floyd.

And you could be right about the draining, but I'm not sure. He makes 154 very comfortably...I wonder if he's ever had anything to say about moving down...

If Canelo gets outclassed again, which he will if he fights Lara, his stock will go down massively and I'm not sure if GBP are willing to risk that. I hope you're right, but can't see it happening anytime soon

Molina really is a pathetic fighter, he holds more than Wlad...

He'll stink the place out against Canelo, hopefully Canelo puts him to sleep nice and early. Angulo could give Canelo a few problems imo, he hits like a mule and Canelo hasn't got good enough foot movement to deal with a pressure fighter like him. It would be a close fight.

Omg remember Molina vs Ishe Smith fight on the September 14th card? That's got to be the worst fight I've ever watched.

He's been calling out Canelo for ages and mugging him off in public, he's doing everything he can to get Canelo to fight him. If he carries on like this, who knows, maybe Canelo will run out of patience

Barely seen anyone call for Lara Mayweather. Most know it will be a stinker. Cant see Lara beating Floyd unless he gets old. He wont be able to outbox him. Golovkin would be the hardest option and would beat Floyd. Golovkin is a beast.

Trust me if he could he would have done it by now. 147 is the most lucrative division

I wouldnt rule it out happening pre Cotto Canelo because they were willing to risk the Canelo Mayweather fight when he took on Trout. Chances are it will happen next year though.

Wlad has a whole collection of them. Jab Jab grab repeat for the whole fight with the occasional right hand

On boxingscene (I know ) there was a poll about who people want Floyd to fight next, Lara was second, Pacquiao was first. Hundreds of people voted. GGG is the only guy who I think would beat Floyd for sure, Pacquiao, Lara and Martinez would be 50-50s for me.

Trout is a nothing fighter RGK, he's not on Lara's level, Canelo was always gonna win that fight. I don't even think it was a particularly close fight like most do, I had Canelo winning 7-5 + the knockdown.

Like I said I hope you're right. Why don't the Cuban fighters have a bigger fanbase? They produce some of the best fighters...

posted on 28/12/13

Cuban fighters are not allowed to turn pro and if they do they have to leave the country.

posted on 28/12/13

Oh yeah I read something about that the other day...dafuq is that all about?

Their fighters are probably the most technically gifted

posted on 28/12/13

Pretty close between them and America.

Pro boxing is banned in Cuba so whoever turns pro have to leave the country.

what a weird facking bunch of people

You seen much of Andrade RGK? He's a very good boxer, probably the best at 154 after Lara and Floyd. Definitely one for the future

posted on 28/12/13

Yeah we watched him a month ago against Vanes. His chin looks suspect but has a good skillset

posted on 28/12/13

Oh yeah we watched that one together on the Fight Night Thread init? That was a good card.

He did get dropped but Vanes has good power, plus he recovered very well. I'd like to see him fight Canelo sometime. I don't think he's with TR so it shouldn't be a problem

Floyd won't fight Lara because it is a tough fight he can lose, and Floyd don't do them.

Canelo avoided Lara like the plague before, Schaefer would not let Lara beat up on the new Golden Boy. Maybe now the fight can be made, but first they have to feed Canelo some easy fights to build the hype up again.

Lara looks too big for 147lbs. He is a 154lbs guy and I think he is/will be no.1 contender for Mayweather's belt.

Floyd will no doubt duck again.

Kamran.

I've been saying for years Lara was the no.1 fighter at light-middle and a fighter that is very capable of beating Floyd. Now a lot of people are saying the same things.

Floyd will no doubt try and fight Khan or Maidana instead.

posted on 28/12/13

This from the same clown that said Khan would beat Mayweather in 2012 and now the fight looks a possibility you play it down. So predictable

posted on 28/12/13

I said if Khan continues to improve at the rate he does at the end of 2013 the balance of who will win out of him and Mayweather will shift in Khan's favour.

This was 3 years ago.

Do you think Khan has been improving at the same rate as when he beat the likes of Judah and Paulie?

Lara's a special fighter. One of my favs.

I watched his fight against Molina a couple of weeks ago and I'm not sure how people think he lost that fight. Molina stunk the place out with his Wlad-esque holding. Lara was trying to box, Molina was trying to wrestle. I scored the fight 7-3 Lara, I can see why people though it was a close fight, Molina made it look close with his pathetic style, so people couldn't make out a clear winner.
