Wenger And Giroud Say No Striker Is Needed!

posted on 30/12/13

The comments re RVP were made to cool the heat around the prospect RVP was off. The comments he made today/yesterday indicate that he doesn't want any competition and that he is Arsenal's main man.

---------------------

See, here you've taken one at face value, and the other one not at face value, to suit whatever it is you're trying to say

Like I said earlier, if he'd said the opposite, I'm sure his words would have been twisted, like the press do with every single person they quote, to make it look like he was being big-headed and criticising Podolski, Walcott, etc. He's in a 'damned if he does damned if he doesn't' situation, and if he'd said what you said earlier, an ambiguous, calm response, then he may have been better off, granted, but these comments often represent very little of a player's true views anyway so who gives a shít?

No player in the world wins you trophies and titles on his own

RVP was the sole reason United won the title last season, he bailed us out in many games.

I disagree, United won it at a canter and if they hadn't spend £24m on Van Persie, as it was 'Fergie's last hoorah' they probably would have bought some other talented striker and won it anyway, maybe not by as many points, but still won it. Last season, City were weak, Chelsea were in disarray and Arsenal were miles off.

Yes he helped you but Rooney/Carrick were outstanding in the important big games as well for United.

Because, in his deluded words, Suarez could 'complement' him. Imagine having the audacity to say that

Yeah that's it probably

So what are you trying to say here? That Giroud actually does want us to sign a player to take his spot in the team but is just saying he doesn't for the lols? What exactly is the point you are trying to make (if there is one)?

posted on 30/12/13

If we'd signed Suarez, Giroud would not start.

As Penguin says, you're taking one source at face value and dissecting the other to the nth degree, depending on what suits your argument (which really made no sense to begin with anyway).

Can you please tell me the last time a current player, whether he has been at the club for 2 minutes or 2 decades, has exclusively broken news to the public that another player will be leaving?

Thanks in advance

We might have. Don't forget, this was before Ozil was even dreamed off. No Ozil means the prospect of them playing together is more likely.

I think it could have happened. I think Suarez could play the inside forward role quite nicely and the pair would be great together. Others don't, but of course, we'll likely never know now.

We will never know Fab...Would Suarez be in the same shape at Arsenal as he is in now at Liverpool? No one knows.

Your point here being that "Don't tell the media the truth, because if you do it'll cause problems as they'll twist it and it'll cause unrest", yet with the new signing argument you ignore your own logic.

Again, I ask you, as you failed to answer my previous post, why would Giroud make comments saying he doesn't want Arsenal to sign a new striker, if he didn't mean them at face value. Please answer the question this time.

Maybe in support of Podolski, with whom Giroud is said to get on very well - if Giroud publicly endorsed a new signing, would it not be a kick in the teeth for Podolski, whose treatment at Wenger's hands has arguably been a little harsh since he arrived? In fact, did Giroud not say in the same interview that Podolski was able to fill in for him?

"GIROUD CRITICISES TEAMMATES, SAYS THEY NEED NEW STRIKER AS THEY'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO COPE"

or maybe

"GIROUD THINK HE'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH, OUTRAGE AS GUNNERS STRIKER DOESN'T EVEN BELIEVE IN HIMSELF"

So by saying something along the lines of "I would thrive on further competition for my position in the team", the media would draw negative conclusions and portray it is a way it is impossible to do so?

Are you really that paranoid or are you pretending to be?

It's funny that you name Podolski. One of the many players who pressed Wenger to buy in the Summer, and publically endorsed our pursuit of Suarez. Wonder why he didn't receive any criticism for that..............???

Yes, they would say 'Arsenal morale nosedives, as Giroud slams forward partners - The French striker claims he doesn't think his current Arsenal team-mates provide him with enough of a challenge'

I refer to the comment by (can't remember who) which says his English is pretty meh and is gonna get misconstrued.

I think you're deluded for thinking an off-form player. for ARSENAL, of all clubs, who probably can't speak the best English, isn't going to have his words twisted by the tabloid press who get page-hits and sell copies from controversial headlines and the like. We've seen it with Wenger countless times, and we see it whenever a player makes a vague comment - the headline has fúck all to do with the quote they give and yet it attracts attention-galore from Talksport or 5Live, debated endlessly on 606, even when the original quote is pretty moderate - how many times have we seen that, guys?

I do have a problem with what Ive read. Its obviously a case of journos asking questions to get specific answers. I've made this up but expect its something like

Q. Do Arsenal have to buy another striker to let you have a rest?
A. "If the coach wants me to rest, he can do it without buying a new striker.

"Lukas Podolski is having a good comeback. Theo Walcott can play as a striker. We have the quality and the quantity."

Q. Would you prefer to see another striker come in?
A. "I would rather not see a new striker come in."
