But bothered by it. The mentality of a true top player and winner.
===========
Now you're just continuing to put words in his mouth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'm not.

We would have been in direct competition because he is a pure central striker.

"Of course, at the time, it would have bothered me a bit but I was not afraid of competition."

As for this:

"Giroud isnt afraid of any competition as Wenger backs him. Higuain would be less competition for him as Suarez because Higuain is not a CF or would be used as one at Arsenal."

Both of them would be too much competition for Giroud as both are by considerable distances, far superior to him. The only difference is Giroud was foolish enough to believe Suarez was being sought after to play alongside him. He knew if we signed Higuain, he'd end up on the bench. Which is why he stated he would have been bothered by his arrival, and which is why he is now stating the club does not need to sign a new striker. Who needs a new striker anyway? We have Podolski and Walcott who can compete with Giroud. Oh look, they also play out wide and complement him. Just like Suarez would have.

Appreciate the debate. That is what a football forum is all about.

Everyone stand by their point of view. That is not satisfying as a result though.

You said Higuain would never be a CF for us. I think you meant Suarez.

Unless you're talking about the Fifa definition of 'CF'

I think you're using the word 'bothered' a bit to extremely there, tbh, bats.

It's not as if it means he's gonna say "OH FACK OFF ARSENE I'M GONNA GO ON STRIKE" but when you combine it with the statement "I wasn't afraid of the competition" which follows the word 'bothered' it sounds more like he's saying

"Oh ffs, now I could be second choice when before I was first. Fúck. Well, I better start working harder then, I'm not afraid of the competition."

A weak argument if you ask me. No one can say what was in Wenger's mind when he put a bit in for Suarez.

In my view Wenger always wanted to have at least two strikers at the club. That was the case the season when RVP left us. Wenger's intention was to have both to compliment or to replace each other.

Wenger also wanted to have two strikers at the club last summer. He knows that one is not enough to play the whole season. That is why he tried to buy Higuain first and later Suarez.

Don't forget Demba Ba on Deadline Day

No Penguin I meant indeed Higuain. He isnt a typical CF at least not at RM.

OH I see

Think that's where he would have featured for us. He's sort of doing that for Napoli now, of course their style is different but I don't think he and Giroud could play together whereas Giroud and Suarez, for me that's more likely.

Of course, if we'd have signed Suarez there may have been no Ozil, so you never know how it would have altered the future.

Don't forget that he highlighted that Suarez would complement him, and noted that he could play out wide.

Just like he has supported Podolski and Walcott, 2 wide players, in public, yet for some reason has not mentioned Bendtner's name. His only true competitor for CF.

I don't know why we have to keep going over this Penguin. You know I am right. It won't hurt you to admit it.

I think not mentioning Bendtner is more to do with him not being considered competition by many at the club. Wenger was ready to let him go if we'd sealed Ba on deadline day on loan, which shows how much he values him. I think Wenger's gonna replace Bendtner with a younger striker who could prove to be a better backup striker than Bendtner.

Some have forgiven Bendtner's misdemeanours and poor attitude, but I haven't. That sorta stuff sticks for me

This reminds me, January transfer window opens in a couple of days, we're gonna start seeing the crazy articles with just a link to daily express/tribal football story about us being linked to a random player, then what that fails to materialise people forget the source got it wrong and continue to use them
