What like Mowbrary?
Wasn't he going to give us free flowing attacking football after Strachan, and we all know how that turned out.
Lennon's still the man for us, we puch above our weight in Europe due to his experience, there's not too many managers available with CL experience.
Keep the faith bhoys.
Just back from CP.
First half was pretty dire. 2nd much better.
I thought Stokes was good when he came on.
Sammi totally disinterested - wandered around scratching his erse.
21 points from 21.
18 goals For - 2 Against.
585 minute shut out.
Mowbray relegated a team, we should have known better- especially in the manner in which he did so. Martinez also relegated a team, but they were Wigan and he also gave the big teams a game.
We need to look about, I do not like the selling club philosophy because it is flawed in that you can't replace the calibre of players you are losing through transfers, thus the way we should be replacing them is through our own youth academy.

An 18 month festive period is a bit much though. I can count with my fingers the games the players have actually look even half ersed in since Lennon took over, even with Rangers in the league! Without Rangers we've not played one domestic game at our full ability.
It's not just about impressing in training of our philosophy is to develop young players, is it? We need to have a plan of player advancement, that includes playing games, which we clearly do not have.
If we actually cared about the philosophy we would have a manager capable of implementing it. Instead we just use the guise of a "philosophy" to sell our best players
It's also flawed in that we are gambling with regards to the standard of quality of player coming in.
What happens if the gamble doesn't pay off and they simply aren't good enough (which has happened this season).. We're left with players we can't sell on for a profit and who are eating up the wage bill while providing nothing on the pitch.

The philosophy cannot change as long as the likes of Lawwell are at the club though, he is a great businessman undoubtedly and financially he has done well for the BUSINESS, but how well is he doing for the FOOTBALL aspect.
We could do with someone on the board, or in some capacity, that understands better the football aspect of Celtic and what we are ultimately trying to achieve.
People laud Swansea's identity, and rightly so, but what an excellent chairman they have had in that they've continued their managerial appointments along the same theme that they wanted to fit their identity: Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers, Laudrup etc.
We can't expect a manager to have a tenure like Ferguson, but we can expect the custodians of the club to base their appointments in the way Swansea have done.
Lennon's still the man for us, we puch above our weight in Europe due to his experience, there's not too many managers available with CL experience.

Worst ever CL campaign. Worst ever defeat in the CL. Worst ever hope defeat in the CL. Least goals scored in a CL campaign. Most goals conceded in a CL campaign
Last season was Lennon- and 9 of the 11 players' first Champions League season- and it broke our record points total. They could hardly have been more inexperienced yet gave a good account of themselves, we cannot restrict ourselves to experience at Champions League level if we want to truly get a manager that will change our philosophy.
Henrik
Agree with regards to Swansea, but that philosophy can still exist with someone like Lawwell (as much as I dislike the guy) in the set up, perhaps not as influential as he doesn't know enough about football.
Look at Ajax for the best example of replacing sold players with youthful quality. Sell and invest, yes, but we need football people making football decisions. Lennon is not the right manager for the job of changing our whole club's identity, neither is Lawwell as Chief exec. but he can have a good non footballing role.
Lawwell likes managers he has control over in my opinion. It should be Lawwell's job not to be in the road of the manager's work; but Lawwell likes a manager who isn't going to get in his way. Who isn't going to challenge him. He will always put profit before any major football decision.
I don't mind selling players, but how can a club progress if it does not replace players. We have money, but we don't have enough of it. So we should probably keep it with us and invest it in our youth academy rather than £2m and £3m here and there on average players.

I dont think its time for Lenny to go but perhaps it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world if he was to get offered a job down south. I'm beginning to think like others he is more interested in maintaining this unbeaten run than blooding new players.
I know its been said before but what an opportunity we have to blood some youngsters while Rangers are out of the league AND we are so far ahead in the league. I just dont get it. All this nonsense of their not ready and the fans want to see the best players is nonsense.
I want to see Biton playing every week until the end of the season and the same with Fisher. Give Balde and Atajic a run and drop Stokes and Pukki to give them a break a rest or whatever they need to get their game back.
If that doesn't happen then expect crowds to dwindle even more and expect the viewing figures on Celtic TV to drop too.
Lawwell shouldn't have as much power within the club, how does he justify that position? No financial experience can make you the right man for the Chief Ex job at a football club.
We are woefully behind the times. Okay, have Lawwell in charge of financies, even though I don't like him, I see the advantage. But we need intelliegent football people in high positions and a manager with the right philosophy to take our club into the modem era.

We need experience..your not giving the opposition credit mate to be fair..we dont have the devine right to beat teams.
No, but we should be beating them and you know that because there is uproar if we lose.
I agree Lawwell likes to boss his managers about aswell, he wants a yes man.
If you have that kind of guy as a CEO then you need a manager like Fergie who is in compete control of the football side of things and won't be pushed around. Again, Lennon is not that guy

Then why do we sell our best and often most experienced players? You're the one that's looking to have it both ways now. We either commit to continually producing, developing and selling exciting young players properly with distinct development plans e.g. Ajax. Or we base our team on solidfication and experience, therefore stop selling our best players.
At the moment we have the worst of both. No exciting young talent and selling our experienced players. Do you not see how we will not move forward like this?
Kayal our worst records are the years we don't qualify.
Then why do we sell our best and often most experienced players?

Stability.
But that is surely the most unstable thing to do...
If we dont give our top players top wages then they will move on..the Scottish game does not allow Celtic to pay out top money.
Tend to agree, but what we're arguing is that instead of replacing them with dross we replace from within and save ourselves the transfer fee.
