Forrest has been over conditioned to rely on pace and strength giving him a top heavy frame and dodgy hamstrings. Failed by the club for not developing him properly.
Watt is a good player, yes with an attitude but lots of good players have shocking attitudes. Lennon played him out of position then punted him out on loan. Not ruined as he wasn't trained at Celtic, but we will ruin him eventually.
McGeough isn't quick or strong enough, so never gets a game. Probably our most talented youngster currently, trained by Rangers.
"Something needs to change with the coaching and the youth development because we simply dont create/or give enough young players a chance."
If we were more successful producing our own young players, we wouldn't have to make so many speculative buys like Balde in the transfer market. Win/win.
Agree with the general point that Lennon doesn't give the young players a chance in the first X1. What you get is the dross we had today. Does wonders for season ticket renewals.
VB
I just don't think Biton is that good, and as for that lunge to get himself sent off against Ajax - just showed that he isn't the quality to perform at that level.
KCI
Remember, Dylan was ours before he was theirs. He just remembered where that place called home was.
I'm in the camp that says if we keep being the best under 16, under 19 team in Scotland, how the hell is that we have hardly produced a decent young first team player in the last 20 years. Apart from McGeady and Forrest and JFK, I can't really think of that many.
Meanwhile Dundee United seem to have a bit of a conveyor belt going at the moment. In past seasons it was Hibs. Oh, and there's another club in Glasgow who, out of financial necessity, have had to start producing their own. They will have a team in future which knows what it's like for you and me when the club loses. We should be wary of that. It could very well be a good recipe for them.
Show
I'm not saying McGeough has any divided loyalty's or anything, just saying we haven't had the chance to ruin his talent yet because he left us for a few years
Biton was stupid against Ajax I agree but I think he's also in tbe same bracket of giving a 10 game run to see what he can do.
"Biton was stupid against Ajax I agree but I think he's also in tbe same bracket of giving a 10 game run to see what he can do. "
Can't judge him (or the other "kids" on the strength of one game. Give them 10/12/15 games.
VB
Maybe so, but he wouldn't be at the top of list for that.
Balde and Mouyokolo (when he's fit) would also be in the bracket, but I'd be looking at our own first.
Pukki has had 20 odd games and showed us the square root of hee-haw, yet he still gets picked. I look at that guy and think to myself 'actually, Daryl Murphy wasn't that bad'.
Definately need games consistently to find their feet at any level. Look at Aaron Ramsey, total diddy for the first half of last season and has probably been the best player in the Prem this season. Need to be patient.
I think Fisher has done well since he come in,just shows if the young players get a chance they could do well.Hopefully he can continue to develop in the first team.i would love Atajic to get a run of games, his finish a couple of weeks ago was class,i think he could be a player for us if given his chance.
Tim
Agree about Fisher, but will he get game time now that Matthews is back fit. It's a shame for him, but I think Adam will, quite rightly, get the nod in most games for a while.
Aye True, its a shame his position is RB as that is probably one of if not the strongest positions in the team that we have with Mathews and Lustig. With Lustig injured tho he will get more games i think. Mathews is capable of playing in front of him in midfield too,we''ll see, but hopefully he doesn't get punted back to the bench as he has hardly put a foot wrong and it wont do his confidence any good either.
Not going to happen. Matthews came straight back in the first game he was fit, if Lennon had any intention of developing Fisher he would have been in today to get him more experience, consistency and continuity.
He did well but he won't be rewarded. Only see him again when there is no other option.
Sorry, I'm officially done.

Who did you VirginBhoy ? Is that a name change comin on then ...
I hope your wrong Kayal i will be quite p!ssed off if he is kept out of the team and not given a chance.Like i say he has hardly put a foot wrong and what kind of message does that send out to the other young players? That will prove that Lennon has no intention of giving our young players a chance and if thats the case then i will be happy to see him go and get someone in who is willing to work with and develop our young players and give them the opportunity.
i dont blame Lennon for playing Mathews tho,we need him to get Match fit after his injury as he is a big player for us.
If Lennon was ever going to play the kids he would have already.
Kayal
That is his biggest problem - having the balls to make big changes
My oh my we have some greeting faced kants on here
As usual we have written off players after 6 months
Look I agree I'd love to see the younger players get more game time etc but you only need to look at this thread to realise they would not be given the time of day.
Someone has even said Biton isn't a good player and isn't cut out because he made a daft tackle it's not hard to spot that boy is a player and can pass the ball with both feet, long and short? He will be a terrific player for us, the boy is only 21 I think FFS.
As for Lawell not being good for the club, I agree, we should get Craig Whyte or David Murray in as a role model for him
We are a business as well as a football club, hard decisions need to be made to stop people like us wanting £6 million spent on a player to beat Partick flucking thistle.
I do think Lennon will leave in the summer as he looks scunnered with it, he's been argubaly our most successful manager in the last 15 years and I will be forever grateful that he was in charge
As for Glenn Hoddle? lets get Barnes in as well again FFS
The young players he wants to keep are usually shipped out on loan to keep them happy and gain experience.
NNH, you off to Queensland soon?
Bubble, yeah mate I head there next Thursday for a week, hitting the Gold Coast and Brisbane
Looking forward to surfers paradise
Giving up after a few boring wins
You should try supporting teams who go on a run of defeats that give you no hope and no sense that you'll go anywhere.
The rest of us have gone through entire SEASONS where the football is dire and yet we still go week in week out to support our team.
Moaning about winning games....you don't know how lucky you've got it.
Eh you are officially done?
First off let me say congratulations for bothering to get up early in the morning to watch the telly puts all into perspective when im sat in the pashin freezing cold wind and rain watching crap fitba.
And it was the paucity of Celtic’s latest performance yesterday which seemed to make Lennon’s mind up. In fact, Celtic’s manager has noted a bit of an alarming trend.
He continued: “We were flat, there is no question about it. We looked tired and lacked a lot of spark, particularly in the final third. There were some good bits of play but I expect better and I’m sure the supporters do too.
“There was a flatness about us in the second half in Perth, in Inverness and again today.
“That’s three out of the last three games and it’s starting to look like things are catching up with some of the players. We need this break. We look very heavy legged and mentally tired.
“So we need a break and an injection of new blood. There is no question the squad needs freshening up and we will endeavour to do that.
“It definitely needs a jag because we are starting to look a bit laboured in our play.
“However, we won again today and we have to take the positives from that. It was a clean sheet as well and I have no doubts that we will get better.
“We will get better, there is no question. However, we are going through a tough period of games and it has taken a toll mentally as well as physically.”
