Vidal is not going to leave Juventus and certainly wouldn't join Man Utd.

It's a pipe dream to talk of players of this calibre.

There is ZERO chance of ManU signing Baines or Vidal.

No players are available mid season.

Probably forget about Mata too unless you're willing to lose Rooney. If United don't sell to rivals, then Chelsea are hardly going to want to indulge you either. PSG looks the most likely destination for Mata.

I doubt whether the key players we want to sign (i.e. in central midfield) will be available in January, so I'm not sure how vital this window is. It will simply give those who view things as black and white an opportunity to have a go at Moyes for not signing anyone in the window to address our problems, when the truth is highly likely that who we want or need are not genuinely available then.

It's the January transfer window not panini sticker swapping season! Zero chance of getting the players you've suggested. I think we still need to concentrate on a good summer window and hope we can keep rvp, Rooney and Carrick fit for the rest of the season till then

We'd have a chance with Baines if we're willing to meet Everton's price. They have Oviedo now so may be willing to do a deal. The money they get could be used to try and secure Lukaku or another top striker.

No chance with Vidal or Mata though.

We should go all out to try and get Ibrahimovic, at least for the fun it'll bring us all.

There would be zero chance even in the summer.

Simply because Utd would not pay the money that Juventus would demand.

Anyone that thinks we'd pay 40 of million is clueless.

are we saving Messi and Ronaldo for the summer OP?

Nothing to suggest we will sign anybody, and that's what we should expect.

.........................

Heard the same comment from many clubs, includuing ours, throughout the last fifty years.

Yet players still get sold.

Money talks.

Luke Shaw has stated he's staying for the duration of his saint's contract.

Any trust me we hope this is true.

Top player yes, but we need a CM as matter of urgency.

We don't want to be paying over the odds for a 29 year old left back no matter what talent he has.

i just hope we dont spend all window trying to sign baines and end up spending 20m+ on him, i can just see it now

Mata will go out on loan in January. He needs to for the WC, Probably Spain, maybe Italy (Napoli.....him and Rafa get on..I think) but there’s no way Jose will let him join a rival for league title or Top 4. He already learned his lesson with Lukaku

A left back is the most urgent need we have. Yes, CM is important too but we really need to replace Evra NOW.

Who cares how old Baines is? If he can come in for 3-4 seasons and improve on Evra he will be a massive asset to us.

We should have bought Luis Gustavo before he was sold to Wolfsburg.

Evra maybe bad, but our midfield is dreadful.

We need a left back, two first tea, cm's and a winger.

Resale value is not important. It happens with all transfers. Some you make a profit on, some you make a loss.

That will never change.

posted on 2/1/14

The whole resale thing is a massive mistake on the clubs part. Yes, it's great to buy young players but sometimes you need a readymade fix.

Right now bringing in a long term replacement for Evra would be a mistake because the mistakes are happening NOW.

Baines has literally just turned 29 and IMO has a good 3/4 years in him. Being that we bring in hundreds of millions a year i'd like to think we can plug a hole in our leaky defence with a bit of 'no resale needed' money.

============================================

there are still players who are better than Evra who are young enough to be here long term aswell and they'll also be cheaper than Baines will be
