Didn't realise he's 28
Think we can do better
I'd take him if that guarantees us top 4
Yeah I swear he aged quickly
£25 mil is a rip off. I wouldn't pay more than £15m for him.

I always thought he was younger but 28,though not exactly old,I do think we're looking for a younger player.

I'd sign Diego Maradonna if it meant a guaranteed top 4
That is way too much for someone of his age, he is worth about 15th, quality player though.
Too good for utd deserves a cl team.
He also deserves a team that's actually won the CL
He's only just turned 28.
He gets goals from midfield and is a very good all round midfielder. I'd take him for around £20m max as he's PL proven and is clearly Newcastle's best player. He would be an upgrade on the rest of our current central midfield.
Even if we do buy Cabaye a top drawer CM like Gundogan or Vidal (or both) should still be the number one priority in the summer.
Mata can take Giggs' place in the squad and Cabaye can take Cleverley or Fletcher's

You pay for impact and quality, not years on the planet
A 29 year old won us the title last season...
£25m? Not sure he's worth that much but it does make Arsenals £10m bid for him seem derisory and insulting.
Really unprofessional what they did, bidding for him on the same day Newcastle play their first game of the season, unsettling him.

Who Liverpool? Milan?
Just read that City have tabled an offer for Matuidi, we should be in there, would be a great signing on a free.

Yep,and now he's a crock.
Liverpool have only won the CL once so I wouldn't recommend them
Better than we currently have, but would prefer( instead of this 5 more mata's talk) if we pushed the boat out on 2 proven top class cm's.

Agreed, it would have been better to sign a 20 year old and finish 5th
Certainly not Arsenal anyway that's for sure as they've never won it.
United, on the other hand , the only English team to win the CL twice (and of course they also won the old European Cup as well).
How Arsenal fans would love to have had that type of success in Europe. You can literally see the jealousy pouring out of them when CL / European Cup winners are being discussed
Don't watch much german football so don't know if he gets much game time but would love to see someone like javi martinez, now someone is going to tell me he plays every week now.
Wouldn't be totally against this, but if we'd still need a top quality CM in the summer, and that'd leave us with:
Carrick
Fletch
Fellaini
Clevs
Cabaye
New CM.
One or two of the first four would have to be let go, but I can't see us getting rid of any of them.
£25 million is maybe a bit too much for him tbh but I do like Cabaye and if he was signed, I wouldn't mind at all.
I'd just prefer somebody like Banega, Pjanic or Rakitic and with the type of money that's being mentioned, I think all 3 may be possible for that amount, maybe a little bit more for Pjanic and Rakitic but seeing as both are quite a bit younger than Cabaye, they'd represent better value I think.

I'd rather see the money going on someone who is PL proven, like Cabaye. Seems more sensible.
