It's worth the gamble as he's young and has bags of potential.

Just staggered we haven't addressed that LB problem. Sess is out for a month and Anelka is injured/banned so who knows.

Left back is the major problem but remember that we are allowed to sign players that haven't got a club after the transfer window has shut. That means someone like Riera could still be signed to solve our left back issue.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mel is going to give Ridgewell a final chance against Liverpool and if he is poor again, a free agent like Riera will be signed to replace him as at the very least a stop gap until the summer.

That is ridiculous tbh, considering we've had 31 days to get a decent one in.

Albion can't exactly say that there were no left backs available this month with some moving to our rivals today and within the past week.

Exactly mate.

That is ridiculous but it wouldn't surprise me. This is Albion that we're talking about.

Anyway, hopefully there will be a surprise within the next hour.

I hope so mate.

Can't see it now though mate. No links, no nothing. Lepko and Madeley have gone random on twitter and are not even talking wba. Think it will just be Bouffy. Is he available for Sunday?

I don't think he will be available for selection on Sunday.

Maybe the long term plan is for Brunt to be left back and Thievy at left midfield. That is if we don't sign a left back.

@chrislepkowski: Looks likely Dorrans will stay - expect failure to recruit another midfielder has ended his hopes of leaving. He was v close to going #wba

Poor lad. Shane Long scenario (not quite as bad as travelling for a medical though) all over again. Knows he's not wanted here but is pulled back at the last minute as we yet again mess around and fail to get our own targets.

A massive massive summer ahead.

@chrislepkowski: My understanding is that Thievy will be a loan with a view to a permanent deal. #wba

Forest fan in peace (and in Spain!)

Can't believe that Pepe Mel has signed(or loaned) Thievy!

He is a donkey. I've watched him many times with Malaga, and he is shiite. His head is so far up his own 'arris, it ain't true...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings...

@BaggiesFacts: Thievy's full name is Thievy Guivane Bifouma Eboue Koulossa. He has three France Under-21 caps. #WBA http://t.co/BSeG8I0AZ3

Well the title of the thread tells you everything you need to know. Another manager the board has failed to back adequately.

Simply have to hope Pepe can work some magic with the tools he has. Then hopefully in the summer we clear up the mess Garlick and co. created and rebuild again.

Pepe hasn't been back or allowed to bring in his own coaching team.

He may be a short term coach. Who'd blame him?

Baggies loan striker with a view to a permanent move

ALBION have tonight completed a deadline-day deal for Espanyol forward Thievy Bifouma.

The France Under-21 international has joined on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move. The transfer is subject to international clearance.

He will wear the No.50 shirt but is not eligible for Sunday’s home game against Liverpool (ko 1.30pm).

Bifouma has this term scored three goals in 11 La Liga appearances, of which only two were starts. It follows a successful loan spell at Las Palmas last season where he fired ten Segunda Division goals in 34 starts and two sub appearances.

Baggies head coach Pepe Mel said: “Thievy is a good striker. He is quick, can score goals and is able to play across the front three positions.”

Sporting & Technical Director Richard Garlick added: “We’re delighted to welcome Thievy to the club.

“We set out to strengthen our forward options and Thievy is a little different to the other strikers we have.

“He is a player we have been monitoring for some time and has arrived with a real hunger to prove himself in the Barclays Premier League.”

Bifouma started his career at CS Meaux and moved to Strasbourg before being snapped up as a 17-year-old by Espanyol, where now-Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino was his manager for the first two seasons.

In August 2011, he scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over an inexperienced Barcelona team.

In total, Bifouma has made 49 career league starts, plus 28 as a sub, scoring 15 goals.
