Suarez Penalty

Podolski escaped a yellow early in the match for a fouls on Flanagan. Same as Gerrards second challenge.

Also the second penalty would have changed the game and would have ensured that the challenge on Oxlade chamberlain would never have been made.

Webb isn't the great ref he's made out to be..

No idea why he gets big games.

How Sterling did not get a straight red and an eight match ban is beyond me....

'he tackled someone, from behind, feet off the floor, without getting the ball. thats a yellow card'.
====================================
Nice story.
Are you sure you dont want to embelish that further, and make it two footed, with razor blades for studs ?

If that how u want to play it then the foul for the actual Free kick was never a foul so Suarez would never have had the chance the take the free kick.

I also feel the soft penalty changed the momentum of the game as we were looking to score a 3rd goal at that point. Its all Ifs and buts.

Gerrard has been making these last ditch feet off the floor challenges.Did it against Fulham and did it against the Ox at Anfield to earn us a penalty.I am certain if we were chasing the game he would have made the exact same challenge.

Even his yellow was for a last ditch challenge when arsenal were on the counter.

Suarez was fouled in the box. It was rightly given. What I would ask is why on earth teams keep fouling Liverpool players as they run along the line of the penalty area, causing no real threat?! It happens on pretty much a weekly basis (twice this week).

Arsenal fans talking about gerrard second booking but forgotten webb kept booking Liverpool players including gerrard first booking for a slightest tackle. You also ignored mentioning monreal high studs on Allen which was worthy of a straight red and podolski challenge on Flanagan. These things get missed but how on.earth webb missed oc rugby challenge on.Suarez.
You are embarrassing your selves if you think webb was bad for you. Liverpool should be furious with him. Podolski ttackled Suarez

That was a clear free kick!

Bumped! Did Arteta get the ball? No, did he get Flanagan, yes.. Free kick!

We can talk about decisions all day, a draw might have been a fair result, and had Sturridge finished the chances he had, possibly a win.

But the game has gone, showing up Webb to be a below par ref.

Nothing more to be said!

There's no excuse no for Liverpool not to get top four, none at all, barring a plague!

Says who ? the Arsenal fan.

Well, if your playing a deep lying anchor role, you may well have to make the odd last ditch tackle.
You have pointed out 3 in 270 odd minutes of football.
What exactly is your point ?

Webb doesn't have the bottle to give 2 pens to one team in the same game. He was looking right at it but didn't want to make the call. He's not a good ref.

Mike Dean isn't a great ref but would have made that call without hesitation. Phil Dowd is the best ref in the league imo and I strongly believe he would have given that second pen. Shocking refereeing

Are you serious? It was a blatant freekick.

The current rule seems to be that any contact in the box is a penalty. Unless its during a corner kick, in which case anything goes.

Suarez ahould have been awarded the penalty he wasn't, and had the one he was awarded waved away - so it all balances out in that regard.

Webb doesn't have the bottle
======
It's much worse than that - he likes the control.

To let Sterling off for pushing him in the chest was a disgrace.
His reasoning would be that Sterling is a young lad learning the game and best let him off.
Same with the Ox penalty probably.

All in all - outrageous arrogance!

Normally the difference between a foul and a yellow card offence is based on 2 things,

1) does the attacking team lose a huge advantage by stopping the game.In both cases all Gerrards challenges were designed to stop Arsenal from getting into the boxFlannagen was fouled by Podolski on the half way line.

2) The second thing is how dangerous the tackle is.All stevie G's tackles flattened the player going in ever soo hard. Anyway even if he was sent off you wouldnt miss him in your next premiership game.Looked tired and could do with a rest.He is old you know.

Dowd is usually awful against us. Mike Oliver is probably the most consistent.

My opinion on Dowd os just based on his general performances and I think he tends to get the big calls right most often. Having said that, I can see why you feel that way because I have a vague recollection of him being ref when you were robbed at City on Boxing Day. Would still place the brunt of the blame on the linesman though

He gets the big decisions right, but he's always influenced by the crowed on minor fouls. He'd keeping giving the home team the minor fouls and wouldn't give the away team anything.

My opinion on Webb is set in stone though. He struts about the pitch like he owns it, oozes authority whilst failing to make a big call on its merits. He's closer to the worst ref in the PL than the best imo. But he continues to get the big games and continues to make crucial wrong calls.

Make no mistake, I wanted Arsenal to win today. BUT I am tired of seeing Webb influence the result of games through simply not having the conviction to make the right call. It's like Groundhog Day.
