Gerrard has excellent qualities. However, back tracking players who run off him isn't one of them. And when he is in the deepest midfield position then it causes a problem. Swansea know it. Shelvey knows it. Most of us on here know it. And Gerrard knows it.

Gerrard has played well in his new role but people who had the opinion he can't play there have been waiting until he hasn't had a great game to voice the I told you so opinion. No mention of how good he was in the other games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's been plenty of praise for him. But there's no denying that today Swansea have found acres of space behind him and Hendo

We're actually missing Toure in this game to get the backline to push up.

Midfield is NOT the problem, it's the defence.
They're not pushing up when the midfielders are pressing..

7-4 to liverpool; thats not the odds its the likely score

The strikers can't keep keep out scoring the opposition

When Masch was with us 'everyone' used to say we didn't need a DM (especially against a side like Swansea) and it was too negative.

Now 'everyone' has their way, we're winning but it's still not good enough

You cannot be serious missing Kolo...no no no!

Why can't Sakho be right footed? Him and Agger would be the perfect combo.

There's too much space yes but for me it's because the full backs are too far up and Gerrard is having to go out to cover for them leaving the centre open.

I don't see why people are having a go at others who aren't happy with this performance, yes we are winning but it's not pretty to watch its like we are seeing what's gonna happen before it does. Every man and his dog knew shelvey would be a problem and Bony and what happens? The defense gives them the freedom of the 18 yard box!

BR is just playing Keegan style because he expects us to outscore the opposition at home.

He will be disappointed with the 2nd goal, but other than, it's working as in normal play we have 3 and they have 1.

Yeah Rafa was being attacked all over the place for playing a defensive midfielder in these home games.

As for the free kick...what is Skrtel doing. No need for that and punished!

We are missing cissokho on the left, they are attacking best down their right..

-----/

Johnson always leaves too much space in behind. Carra's hair started to go grey shortly after his arrival.

god that shelvey goal, Routledge just playing a game of keepball on his own, even got a few keepy uppies in too easy, no pressure whatsoever.

Because one minute we're title contenders, then the sky is falling an Utd are gonna catch up with us, then we're favs for the title again.

It's the biggest knee jerk reaction on here sometimes, I swear.

Our best midfield is Masch, Xabi & Stevie....got to have a proper DM, Stevie needs to be playing the Xabi role

Why can't 2 left footed players play together?

Usually we have cissokho playing limited attacking footballon the left (he wont venture far past the half way line) with suarez in front of him (going wherever he likes, hence the LB being limited in attack)

We also usually have flanno at RB with sterling ahead of him tracking back to cover..

Today we have flanagan on his own, still attacking fully at right back because suarez is vacating the right, and johnson at LB who for me is having a poor games positionally

We actually are. He's got the confidence to push up without fear of players running in behind.

For me Johnson should swap position with Flanno.
